Soccerex (one of the largest event providers for football) had to cancel their convention at the Maracana Stadium due to the protests...

Well done to the various British TV outlets for managing to cover just one of the 4 world cup playoffs this weekend

The pitch in Iceland today ahead of tomorrows game against Croatia. Croatia were told they had to train indoors as the pitch is not in a great condition already.

Forecast for tomorrow night is apparently -10, snowing and very windy.

Presumably they've got undersoil heating?

This must happen fairly frequently (although not as frequently as you might expect given the gulf stream and the Nordic winter break in the football calendar)

soggy biscuit Jordan 0-5 Uruguay.

What un utterly pointless waste of everyone's time. Why on earth have a play off between the third best team in Asia or whatever they are and the fifth place side in South America, you may as we'll just have 5 sides qualifying from South America.

Be much better if the qualifying game was Asia v Oceania or Oceania was combined in with Asia from the start.

Still FIFA know best....

With Brazil being hosts, there were already 5 sides from South America guaranteed a place.

You have to wonder how Uruguay finished below Colombia, Chile and Ecuador. It's almost as if they had an "incentive" to let those nations finish above them.

was a translated article linked to the pic I posted up there. Just checked and it now says 0C with possible sleet. heavy snow kicking in tomorrow

Just read a preview and they described Iceland as 'in a near state of shutdown' over the excitement. Just spoke to my customer called Arni in Iceland, he is very excited!

Portugal v Sweden very exciting so far. No goals after 30 mins, good chances at both ends. Absolutely nothing against Portugal, but want Sweden to score.

2-0 isn't unassailable, but god I hope Ukraine hold on. Good draw for Iceland, all to play for in Zagreb. Couldn't care less about Greece/Romania or Portugal/Sweden.

Agree....France will be kicking themselves for not scoring an away goal........As for Iceland, a 1-0 win in the 95th min from God's own boot would be lovely!

Nigeria & Ivory Coast qualified yesterday.

Cameroon 4-1 up with 5 minutes left so pretty much there.

Other 2 African play offs are on Tuesday

Sweden captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic failed to register a single touch in the opposite box against Portugal
