This is priceless ranting. Why should we offer him more than in 2004? It's not like he's a better defender these days.

What the hell does the second bit mean?
Any chavs out there who can translate please??

I thought he just wanted to play football in England hence why he turned down the Greek deal. Now it seems it is about money after all.

Take the contract, play well, and prove you are worth more. But pre-season suggests he isn't worth more.

I felt sorry for him when I read that long article about how he just wanted to play football and felt bad about accepting very high wages each week when he wasn't even able to play at Portsmouth.

Now I just hope he rots in the reserves at Ipswich. Greedy twat! I know he has no allegiance to Reading, it's just a job for him, but taking into account the success he had here you would think he would want to give it another go and that perhaps he would be of the mind that the inflated wages he felt so bad about taking for sitting on his fat arse at Pompey could be used to bolster the miserly pay packet we were offering.

But then again, that's working off the assumption that he is a reasonable person and not a money grabbing, past it, deluded and thick as pig shit footballer.

In sonko speak "fk of u grdy cnt!"

Perhaps he doesn't have faith in himself proving that he is worth more after recent years. In which case I definitely don't want that sort of mentality at the club.

I can understand it being about money given this is potentially be his last major 'job'

Thing is when they use media to publically discuss affairs ie twitter

Glad he aint signing for us, would be good to see Ipswich take on sonko and ivar at the back though!

I think he knows he's lost it, hence why he's trying to get wages above his performance level.

I saw him jump recently. Barely made 8ft off the ground. Pathetic.

I think most front lines in this division would run their hands together with glee at the prospect. Not really reflective of Ivar; just Sonko.

@IbrahimaSonko After all that nonsense you spoke it turns out you're a typical greedy footballer - Sonko is #greedyman!!! Shud b about footy

To which the translated reply from Sonks is (to the best of my knowledge)

u talking nonsense , u sld not coment on tgs u not realy sur abt. Jst ask ursf y rdg 've not got plyrs in after saling for 12m .

You're talking nonsense, you should not comment on things you're not really sure about. Just ask yourself why Reading haven't signed anybody after selling players for £12m

So Sonko is SDR :o or 1TeamInBerks :o :o  :o

Dear Mr Houlton11,

I believe you are talking nonsense and you really should not comment upon a situation about which you have no knowledge.

You should perhaps ask yourself why Reading FC have not replaced players after selling a number for £12million.

Yours

I . Sonko

However I am not a chav so I wouldn't know

Quite interesting really, first Brian says the club went back with a second offer and waiting for a response from Sonko, and Sonko says he rejected the first offer and is waiting for a second from the club....someone is telling porkies!

Apparently Sonks approached us, and McD invited him to train.
I don't see what his problem is. Even if it's £1k a week, that's still over £50k a year. That's more then I get!
He can't have many financial obligations considering what he's been on. I doubt he owes abbey national £150k over the next 23 years!
If he signed the one year deal, and did well, i'm sure the club would have given him better terms after a few months.
His loss, not ours I say

Those Ipswich fans seem to think their signing Phil Jones or Chris Smalling.

The bit about a 90% pay cut being offered, when he would take a 75% pay cut is interesting. It implies our offer was 2-3k a week which is on the low side but on a 1 yr deal he could be off in Jan if he proved himself.

Still if he gets a better offer elsewhere in this div, who wouldn't take it.

Dear Ibrahima Sonko

Talk about not caring about the money and just wanting to play football, then perform badly whilst on trial, then get uppity about the contract offer you get. This is what is known as hypocrisy.

Reap the whirlwind and oxf*rd off you penalty waiting to happen greedy bastard.

I just read that too.
Thing is, it would be a pay cut if he was getting paid, but he's not, he was released, so he's currently earning £0/ week.
Comparing the offer to what he used to earn is fairly irrelevant considering he's no longer in the top flight, and is probably past his prime.
If someone offered me £120k/year i'd take it!

I could not have put it better myself. He needs to ask himself why Pompey didn't play him whilst he was there? Becouse he was shite.

Sonko's only mistake is talking about this: it's a bad idea to talk in public, especially in pigeon twatspeak. I don't blame him for not taking Reading's offer if he can get a better one elsewhere--that's all this amounts to.

Sonks is a legend, but I'm slightly relieved we're not taking him. He had lost something before he left us, and his career at Stoke and on loan seemed to confirm that--every time I saw him on television he seemed to be either giving away pens or looking like he might. However, I'm anxious that Reading get another centre back in: the present contingent will not be enough, especially when injuries and suspensions kick in, which they tend to do in clutches at centre back.
