He ain't exactly loyal is he? Should have stayed at Swansea for a couple more years IMO. Big mistake going there.

All this manager merry go round does make me nervous. Only a matter of time before we lose Brian.

If, when Rodgers was appointed with us, you'd have said to me that he would be Liverpool manager in 3 years time I'd have said:

a) He must have to do a bloody good job

b) It'll still be too soon for him.

Point a) is hopelessly wrong; point b) is on the money.

Will Rodgers earn a reputation as a manager who jumps too soon? He left Watford very early, and he has left Swansea behind when he could have built a bit of a legacy there.

Understandably, we were his home town and Liverpool are a big opportunity. Still, as commented by somebody earlier, I imagine he now has 3 sets of fans on his back (after his pledge to stay at Swansea less than 2 weeks ago). It's not a good reputation to have alongside his neat footballing one, and if it goes wrong for him at Liverpool (which I predict it will) he will have a job to rebuild his reputation again.

SLAMMED Massive LOL at this.

The fact he was even considered was lolworthy enough.

LOLiverpool

Agreed. I can't quite fathom how his stock has risen so high. Take Gylfi out of the equation & they were relegation fodder. I predict he won't even last a season.

This, this and THIS.

Take 9 point off their total and they would have had to beat Liverpool the last day of the season to stay up.

The thing is - so far at Swansea, Rodgers hasn't had to deal with any sort of pressure.

Well, fcuk me he's going to be under some now. For every Reading FC/Tim Dellor reporter they'll be a dozen times more tabliod journos gunning for him when the pressure is on.

Which set of fans can really complain though? Swansea have to understand Liverpool aren't a club that come calling many times in your life. Reading, he was probably fired too soon and you're a bit of an idiot if you hate him for 21 games of results with a team and club in transition. Watford, yeah maybe but again the RFC job was the one he always wanted.

This has got FAIL writ large all over it if you ask me. I really don't think LiverpooLOL have done their homework on Bodgers at all. Agree with others, gone by Christmas, hounded out by the Scousers.

Agree with that Mags. We don't have any reason to complain. He wasn't working and Madejski did the right thing.

Who would ever have thought that one of the worst managers in the history of Reading FC. Would go on to manage Liverpool?

Delighted for Rodgers, a very shrewd appointment. Personally I think he will do very well at Liverpool and wish him all the best.

Former Watford chairman Graham Simpson, who gave Rodgers his first managerial job in football, told BBC Radio 5 live:
"He brought with him a heavy file which he went through explaining why and how the game should be played.

Agreed. I hate him for his inherent shiftiness and arrogance instead.

I don't hate him but he was clearly clueless about how to fix a talented but failing team at Reading, and I can't see much difference at what he'll have to at Liverpool. Brian had the same players and turned it around, largely by building the team around Gylfi.

Interesting commet by Madejski on R5 this morning when he was being interviewed about Rodgers. Said something about the people aorund Rodgers not 'gelling'. Hadn't heard him say anything like that before.

On the flip side, the Times says his Swansea players said he made them 'feel like a million dollars'.

I took it more to mean the coaching staff rather than players. Madejski didn't want to name names when pressed.
