paultheroyal Basingstoke Senior Cup - guest starring Hungerford

'Crusaders' progress to meet the mighty Rising Sun DC in the semis, date tba - other Semi is Alton Town v Overton next Tue evening (24th)
Not sure where they'll play the Final yet - Camrose doesn't appears to be an option as I suspect it could be run by the B&D league and not the County 'sub-FA' like the Aldershot equivalent. Last years' Final was at Tadley (won by Aldermaston) before that at Whitchurch (winners: Hungerford) and in 11/12 at Alton (winners: Thatcham).

... if you think that's a tenuous entry :? - you should check out the contestants vying for this years' Aldersh!t Senior Cup :

they include ---- Reading Town, Ashford Town (Middlesex) Chertsey and Alresford!

... and one for your diary  - Final due to be played at The Rec on THURSDAY 7th May

Current Semi-Final line up is:

Tue 31st March - RTFC v Camberley (last years runners-up)
date tba - Alresford T (last years' winners) v Fleet Town

In his own words Drax Hippolyte 90% certain NOT to be Maidenhead's manager next season.

No big surprise, a shame as the season started reasonably well for them.

The perennial relegation scrap is on, and once again the lack of finance for him to change things will be cited.
Quite like Drax, hope that he gets away with it once again, however, there'll always be a vacancy at H&Y to be filled.

Leon Knight appointed manager of NWCFL team Barnton.

This will not end well.

But it will end soon.

Bit strange announcing a sacking before the season is over. Some players play for managers not clubs so it's a bit risky telling those players the manager won't be there next year!

(Sounded more like a "mutual agreement in the best interests of both parties after 8 years of loyal service" type of arrangement re Drax.)

Worcester Park 1-3 Windsor

Another pretty ropey game with Windsor barely getting out of 2nd gear to beat very limited opponents. Whether we could have done if needed looked very much in doubt to be honest.

Although the ground has 3 sides open I rather liked the place. Best food range and value I've come across in my CCL Travels, just £3 to get in and loved the way the ball boys / men recycled the spare balls when the current object was booted into touch.

If we play like that in the semi against Camberley they may not break sweat.

... well they (Camberley) were certainly in a contest yesterday at Farnham. Youngest decided he'd prefer later departure, shorter journey and longer recovery time from his own late AM/lunchtime match (W9-2 didn't have too much to do at left-sided defence but was tidy enough throughout 8) )
Haven't been there on a Saturday for years - forgotton what a complete ba$t@rd it is to park anywhere near the ground - not normally a problem for evening games.
Farnham were very bright and competed with the league leaders all over the pitch - deservedly led almost to half-time before they were undone by a classic bit of Camberley route one. Second half leaders stepped up the pace and pressure but here held at bay by some very resolute defending. Farnham still a threat on the break but Camberley will see this as two points lost.
Ticked all the boxes for 'royals minor's' NL enjoyment - good food, nice seats, high up on the bank behind the Mead itself - home by about 17:40. :D

... here's the rest of yesterday's results:

Saturday 21st March 2015

FAV S-F 1st Leg
Highworth Town 0-1 North Shields -att 1240 - 'Worthians' reportedly overawed by the occasion. 1st half, were dominated by their illustrious northern visitors and very fortunate to go in level at HT. 2nd half different story and only some resolute defending kept the home side out (including at one point a stray arm on the line not spotted by the officials). N.Shields broke and scored late on. More chances came and went but sadly not a leveller. Hopefully they've learned enough about themselves to make the return leg competitive next week

CONFP
Fri - Bristol Rovers 3-1 Aldershot Town
Woking 1-0 Forest Green Rovers
CONFN
Brackley Town 1-1 North Ferriby United
Oxford City 1-2 Bradford Park Avenue

CONFS
Bromley 0-1 Staines Town - - upside down result as Fozzie's bottom-dwellers bt the league leaders.
Chelmsford City 1-1 Maidenhead United
Eastbourne Borough 3-0 Bishops Stortford
Farnborough 2-7 {SEVEN} Bath City
Havant & Waterlooville 2-0 Ebbsfleet United
Hayes & Yeading Utd 2-4 Hemel Hempstead Town
Sutton United 0-1 Gosport Borough
Wealdstone 0-1 Boreham Wood
Weston-Super-Mare 1-2 Concord Rangers
Whitehawk 0-1 Basingstoke Town

SOUTHP
Burnham 1-3 Histon
Chesham United 1-3 Arlesey Town
Cirencester Town 3-5 Slough Town
SOUTH1C
Aylesbury United 1-1 North Greenford United
Aylesbury 3-0 Bedworth United
Beaconsfield SYCOB 1-1 AFC Hayes
Daventry Town 0-4 Egham Town
Godalming Town 2-1 Chalfont St Peter
Marlow
0-2 Northwood
Royston Town 2-1 Hanwell Town
Uxbridge 2-2 Kettering Town
SOUTH1S&W
Didcot Town 2-0 Clevedon Town
Larkhall Athletic 3-0 Fleet Town
North Leigh 0-1 Evesham United
Wantage Town 0-3 Stratford Town
- no real change at the bottom in this division, with all four clubs in trouble suffering defeat yesterday.
- Bashley have looked 'gone' for some months now - beaten 7-0 at Cinderford, they are 16 points adrift with only 6 games left. Looks like Wessex league for them or possibly even a step to further oblivion, with a merger or absorption by one of the New Milton/Lymington clubs.
Assuming three may go down, then the remaining two places are likely to be filled by Bps Cleeve, Fleet or Wantage. Bps Cleeve are fast running out of games to turn things around but with Fleet in complete free-fall may climb above them to get any possible reprieve on offer. Which of course they may not want, given the parlous state of finances amongst most clubs at the foot of STEP04.
Meanwhile at the other end, teams chasing the play-off places seem to be falling each over each other - Larkhall in 5th still have a 6 point cushion over the pack currently led by Diddy. Outright promotion looks to be Merthyr's who are 11 points clear of Taunton.

CCLP
Epsom & Ewell 3-0 Badshot Lea
Farnham Town 1-1 Camberley Town
Frimley Green 1-2 Guildford City

Hanworth Villa 3-0 Ashford Town (Middx)
Hartley Wintney
2-2 Molesey
Horley Town 0-2 Colliers Wood United
Mole Valley SCR 0-4 Knaphill
Raynes Park Vale 2-1 Cove
Spelthorne Sports 1-3 Westfield

- top three all dropped points but Windsor in action elsewhere and Ashford Town lost unexpectedly at wildly inconsistent Hanworth. Frimley's great upturn of form which has seen them out of the bottom three - shuddered to halt at home to fellow strugglers City. Horley sink to the foot as a result.
CCL1
Ash United 1-1 Bedfont & Feltham
Banstead Athletic 1-2 Epsom Athletic
CB Hounslow United 4-2 Alton Town
Chessington & Hook United 1-0 Cobham
Eversley & California 2-2 Dorking
Staines Lammas 3-1 AFC Croydon Athletic
CCL Premier Cup Round 4 (Q-F)
Worcester Park 1-3 Windsor

HELLP
Abingdon United 3-3 Kidlington
Binfield 1-1 Thatcham Town
Bracknell Town 0-3 Flackwell Heath
- and what has seemed inevitable for some months now, has finally happened and Heathens have grabbed top spot from Highmoor/IBIS having reeled them in with an astonishing run stretching back to the end of September ; a sequence of 21 league victories and 2 draws.
Holyport 0-2 Ascot United
Reading Town
2-3 Brimscombe & Thrupp
Thame United 0-1 Milton United
HELL1W
Tuffley Rovers 3-2 Letcombe
HELL1E
Chinnor 1-2 Penn & Tylers Green
HELL Challenge Cup Q-F
Rayners Lane 1-2 Newbury
HELL Supplementary Trophy Round 3
Easington Sports 0-0 Wokingham & Emmbrook H w 7-6 pens
Reading Senior Cup Q-F
Marlow United 2-1 Woodley Town

WESSP
Andover Town 0-1 Lymington Town
Bournemouth 0-6 Winchester City
Whitchurch United
1-0 Folland Sports
WESS1
Andover New Street 1-1 New Milton Town
Cowes Sports 4-0 Fleet Spurs
Tadley Calleva
0-2 Downton - poor result for 2nd place Tadley - now 10 points adrift of leaders Team Solent with only 5 games left to play
Team Solent 6-0 Pewsey Vale

Hanworth's form is indeed bizarre.

I wasn't at the game 2 weeks ago but when Windsor put 6 past them those in attendance were pretty universal in their opinion they hadn't seen a worse team than them all season.

And now they go and beat Ashford 3-0...

.... I think the entire CCL Prem division is pretty wacked and all the more competitive for it! Current 6 match form table makes for interesting reading with three of the bottom four in the top seven! :?

Look at the WDL figures from 9th downwards - no-one has won more than they've lost and there's some pretty spectacular Goals Against totals. Only a few points cover the bottom half-a-doz and the bottom four teams all starting to pick up points have games in hand on those above them.

Only Ashford Town above 7th in action this MW - though plenty of games scheduled. Tempted by Woodley v Finch at Scours in the Hellenic One East just for an easy trip - but am slightly perturbed that the lights might not have been fixed - so may have to look elsewhere .....

Thursday night sees Windsor u18s at Stag Meadow in the semi of the Grant McLennan Trophy against Bedfont Sports who beat us at the same stage last year.

We have 3 players who have contributed well to the 1st team who will hopefully play - all are lightning fast and attacking so I am quite hopeful of a decent night.

... and if you weren't aware RR ... the CCLP CUP Semi-Final vs Camberley has appeared scheduled on today's League Bulletin:

Tuesday March 31st 19:45 Windsor v Camberley

other semi - the following night

Wednesday 1st April 19:30 Colliers Wood Utd v Farnham

... and two weeks later is the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy FINAL - details updated on the County FA site:

Tuesday 14th April 19:45 venue: The Gore, Burnham FC Windsor v Flackwell Heath

... 'Heathens' could have been crowned Hellenic League Champions by then; they only need three more wins to clinch it and have five league matches scheduled before that date - most of them winnable.

Whilst this does seem it's more educationally based, sensibly lets be honest, hats off to Maidenhead for this. It's the kind of thing all ambitious non league clubs who place importance in the youth side of things should be doing.

HELLP
Ascot United v Abingdon United
Brimscombe & Thrupp v Bracknell Town
Cheltenham Saracens v Milton United
Kidlington v Thame United
Oxford City Nomads v Highmoor Ibis - H/I re-took top spot this midweek with a thumping 5-1 win at a somewhat 'distracted' Highworth - evidently resting players for their make or break Vase S-F tomorrow. Flackwell are a point behind, still with 5 games in hand - H/I have only one league game left after this one - H v Binfield on Easter Saturday.
Now seems Heathens won't be able to lift the title before Easter Monday when they go to Holyport. Unless of course Highmoor slip up in either of their remaining games. Heathens goal difference is vastly superior too, so anything but a win for H/I at Nomads, will probably see Flackwell as champions on Saturday 4th, when they travel to rock-bottom Cheltenham Saracens - though they would also need to beat Kiddy @ Wilkes Pk next Tuesday (31st). That could be a good one to be at, as Kiddy have been in the slipstream nr the top for some months now but following a run of four consecutive draws, are now only vying with the 'Yellamen' for third place - with Binfield a couple of points further back in fifth.

Reading Town v Newbury - RTFC sank to another defeat 2-0 at Nomads on Thu eve
HELL1W
Letcombe v Tytherington Rocks
HELL1E
Brackley Town 'Dev' v Didcot Town
Chinnor v Chalfont Wasps
Henley Town v Finchampstead
Old Woodstock Town v Easington Sports
Penn & Tylers Green v Headington Amateurs
Rayners Lane v Woodley Town
- trundled over to Scours Lane Tuesday night to see 'lodgers' Woodley overcome Finch 4-2 in a lively contest. Took a while to warm up - actually was pretty nippy down by the river - but once Finchampstead grabbed a deserved lead both teams opened up. Doubt if either are that used to playing much midweek under lights.
RTFC having serious difficulties with their owners off the field. Big bit on the Hellenic League site today about them.

http://www.hellenicleague.co.uk/club_news/reading.html

Players have been given assurances that expenses will be paid but I'd expect budgets will be ever tighter.
On Wednesday night trawled aways in to W.Lahnden (Hanwell/Perivale) for a South Mids Div One contest: Southall 2-2 Edgware - a contest between two clubs who've both been in and out of the non-league scene in the last decade. Both now plying their trade in a new manifestation. Plenty of followers for the away side - the 'wares folded back in 2008, when they 'lost' their old ground; reformed just this season and skipped, somewhat indecently in some eyes, straight into STEP06. The current outfit now play at ex-Kingsbury's ground Silver Jubilee Park - having also borrowed Underhill for a brief spell - so neither of the clubs particularly close to the roots implied by their name - but this does seem to be the norm in this part of the world.
Kingsbury are now known as London Tigers and play at a ground on Western Avenue about a mile further back up the A40 towards the M40/M25 - previously 'used' by Viking Greenford/Bedfont Green/Neasden/Tokyngton aka Ruislip Manor. Clbs around here move about a bit like one of those Kid's Tile Puzzles - eventually I'd imagine they could all end up back where they started playing in the correctly-named borough - but not for a lifetime or two..... :?
.

Hellenic Chall Q-F
Flackwell Heath v Binfield - 'Moles' were in league action on Wed night, won 7-0 in their visit to bottom club Sarries - 'Heathens' edged past Holmer Green on Thursday to reach yet another Cup Final (Wycombe Senior) - will meet Penn & Tylers or Chalfont St P usual venue is Adams Park - they are already in the B&B Trophy Final.
Reading Senior Q-F
Stokenchurch v Wokingham & Emmbrook

WESSP
Andover Town v Verwood Town
Fareham Town v Winchester City
WESS1
Pewsey Vale v Laverstock & Ford
Tadley Calleva v Romsey Town

...as per most weekends will let youngest choose our NL destination for Saturday - he's now playing at 09:30 (received first call up to the School team this PM :D) - but doubt he'll want to go far - best options are West or South West of here tomorrow.

..., lad has chosen - either Bedfont Sp v Windsor or NGU v Rugby

.... as suspected doesn't want to go too far -- he's a bit knackered after this AMs game and has had to lie down - rather wishes he'd NOT been picked to play for his school - - reportedly did OK up against a markedly stronger team and was subbed at H/T 1-4 down - then watched his team ship a further 9 goals.

Cheered up considerably when he learned his 'regular' BYDFL Sat side won 6-1 this AM w/o him and might be in with a good chance of some trophies next w/e :) - though we aren't too sure of the format of the Round Robin league.

If you make the Windsor game, do come and say Hi.

I'll be wearing a blue Windsor FC Youth coat and a blue / black beanie type thing on my head! Usually to be found half way down the half into which Windsor are attacking.

You can call me Bob.

Fair number of Brummie’s in evidence at NGU noisily cheering on their team – draw doesn’t help either team – Utd had the better of the 2nd half but couldn’t grab a vital win to try and get off the bottom. Food was OK bar fair-sized and quite plush – problems parking as they share the complex with a big Gaelic/Irish club that had a game on outside the ground – probably had more supporters watching that too. Appeared to be about half-doz pitches marked out there for use too – incl lights.

Northwood A-A Bedworthheard about this on R5 on the way home – abandoned on 58’ following ‘mass brawl’ – was reported as five sent off from one team (i.e. as in Colin’s “Battle of Brammall Lane” ) HOWEVER the Northwood site portrays it slightly differently; as two from each team dismissed from the field of play plus both of the Bedworth Management team – one of whom refused to leave the area behind his dugout – causing the Ref to abandon it.

Potters Bar Town 1-3 Godalming Town
Uxbridge 2-3 Marlow
SOUTH1S&W
Cinderford Town 5-1 Wantage Town
Didcot Town {EIGHT} 8-2 Bishops Cleeve - five goals for Mills 2 for Haysham and one for big Jimmy Deabill.
North Leigh 2-4 Bridgwater Town
Swindon Supermarine 3-0 Fleet Town
- Very much 'as you were' - with the bottom four all losing again this week - Bashley went down 1-2 at home to Tivvy.

Ashford Town (Middx) 3-1 Frimley Green
Badshot Lea
3-0 Raynes Park Vale
Bedfont Sports 0-3 Windsor
Camberley Town

Colliers Wood United 1-3 Hanworth Villa
Guildford City 1-3 Epsom & Ewell
Hartley Wintney 2-3 Chertsey Town
Horley Town 2-1 Knaphill
Molesey 5-0 Farnham Town
... at the top long time leaders Cove not in action on Sat PM, drop down to 4th as Ashford T and Molesey skip past them in pursuit of Camberley who are 5 points ahead. 'Moles' best placed to close the gap with 3 games in hand.
The other end of the table fluctuates wildly again with Horley and Hanworth big movers - their wins see Guildford and Frimley sink back to the bottom 2. FG must be ruing their misfortune that led them to scratch a game in January and lose the points - though it was A v Molesey so doubtful they'd have registered any anyway. Knaphill are also looking decidedly dodgy now - stuck in a sequence of WLLWLL etc and have played more games than those around them.

CCL1
AFC Croydon Athletic 3-1 Dorking
Banstead Athletic 0-1 Chessington & Hook United - Chess 'n Hook on a remarkable charge up the table - now won 9 in 11 and up to 6th - both defeats in that sequence heavy one's vs Staines Lammas. Not long back were only above Sandhurst with a worrying backlog of fixtures. Their woes were further compounded sharing a decidedly soggy Chalky Lane with Epsom Athletic - then suffering a fire at the ground which caused the local Fire Brigade to re-flood the playing surface. Would be an astonishing feat if they could challenge for a quick return to the Premier.

Pewsey Vale 0-1 Laverstock & Ford
Tadley Calleva 4-2 Romsey Town – Tadley chasing leaders Team Solent hard but have almost run out of games. – They must win their 2 games in hand this week A v Pewsey and H v Fleet Spurs to get within 4 points and hope the students draw blanks in their last two games. The first of these isn’t until Tue week at Ringwood. Tadley would still need to win their remaining two matches at Hythe & Dibden and Andover NS on the last scheduled day of the season when TS go to Laverstock & Ford (nr Salisbury).
