Not Wilshire and Parker then. Ignoring the 'old guard' all together?

Maybe we need another 'what should the England team be' thread.

If you'd put parker ahead of wilshere, gerrard, or maybe even lampard then re-quote that picture to yourself IMO. Even phil jones there instead is debatable. Scott parker is nowhere near international class.

I think Parker has been one of Englands most consistent performers in recent games.

For arguments sake this is the team I would play.

Hart
Richards, Rio, Smalling, Cole
Lennon/Young, Parker, Wilshire, Johnson
Bent and Defoe.

But thats just me.

Bent and defoe up front, so you wouldn't play any of rooney.wellbeck or sturridge, you'd also hesitate over picking young ahead of lennon?

Good grief that is an uninspiring attacking force.

TBM
3 veesinarow Hart would be the worst choice - he even looks like Terry, so he's bound to be a wrong'un sooner rather than later.

lol, great narrowing down process you've got there!

That's how you would normally narrow things down - one at a time.

Chris Huhne's ex-wife.

She's good at taking penalties.

What with Rooney banned for the first 2 games, no I wouldn't start him in the first two group games and if we qualify I wouldn't play him for the 3rd.

Welbeck and Sturridge - not good enough to start for me.

Honestly, I forgot about Young but thats mainly because he as been injured for 70% of the season so far.

Sturridge has pretty much been Chelsea's best player this season, who would have starting instead of him?

Stevie G is the obvious choice, now that Lampard's officially shit, he's a guaranteed starter.

Adam Johnson or Young (if fit)

I think that Johnson would be considered an immediate starter if he got the same game time that Sturridge does.

And FWIW I think that Mata has probably been Chelseas best player so far this season.

The problem with Johnson is that every time he's started a game for England he's looked pretty naff. Personally I'd be happy with either of them.

However it's a given that Capello will go with Walcott on the right.

There's a good reason Johnson doesn't get the same amount of game time though, apart from the odd moment of excellence he's pretty gash.

Gerrard shouldn't be in the squad let alone having him as Captain.

Move on.

Hart's the best of a bad bunch.

Neither Gerrard or Lampard have been playing football this season, so why on earth would either of them make captain? It's not as if either of them has been any good for England even when they weren't crippled fat relics.
