What's their problem? Does this all stem from the Kiev closed-doors saga?

I think it's fair to say they haven't quite bought into the Champions League yet and so they don't get as many as they might for it but I think the bigger problem might be that for this game it was postponed by 24hours and so a decent number of fans might not have been able to go.

TBM So what do we reckon about the Aguero elbow?

3 game ban or accidental?

he's defo getting away with it (again)

Remind me not to take too much notice when you ever use the word "definitely"
As I see it City definitely won the derby game last Saturday, definitely won their Champions' League game on Tuesday and Man Utd definitely lost their (what they see as being) Mickey Mouse game last night.
Definitely a bad week for the little Portuguese Mr Bean and his deluded followers.

I absolutely agree with the postponement so obviously not as many people can make the rearranged fixture, but what do you mean they haven't "bought into it"? I'm not having a go at you here but rather I think your choice of words is very strange. If a team wins the league then the glamour of the Champions League is something that automatically comes with it so of course they "buy into it" (see Leicester).

There's a bigger issue at City. Does someone who knows care to explain please?

I've not looked at the stats, but I keep hearing and reading that City fans don't seem to be turning up to Champions League games in the way you might expect and that it feels like they've not really taken to the competition, for whatever reasons.

Obviously United and Liverpool have a long history and connection to the competition and so their fans seem to have a greater affinity with European competition and perhaps thats just because they've sampled success and excitement along the way. For City they've not quite had that yet, they've just started getting used to being up there challenging for the title.

Perhaps it#s because their near neighbours have had a history of success, or at least a long history of chasing the dream, that City fans haven;t quite taken to it as they're conscious of being the new boys and copying their rivals.

Have they had a collective history of playing down European success whilst it was United chasing it perhaps?

Just LOL at the total spazmelt going on between Pep and Yaya's agents.

The agent now saying Pep should apologise for taking Pelligrini's job and ditching Hart

Fantastic win for City last night - second half football they played was truly fantastic.

This sort of result just shows how further Man Utd are slipping behind.

This trend is hysteria by the media is ruining football for me. Yes, it was a fantastic win for City last night. A game of two halves to use and old cliche.

When Barca were winning and playing well "OMG they're the best team on the planet even without Alba, Pique and Iniesta". When City took the lead "OMG, they're the best team on the planet".

At the moment we see it every week with it being tight at the top of the Premier League. Liverpool win "They'll win the league". Then Arsenal overtake them, "They'll win the league". Then City back on form win a 4-0 at WBA "They'll win the league". Then Chelsea change formation and start putting a few results together "They'll win the league".

I wish the media would just calm down and look at the bigger picture. Yes City won last night, but predictably Barca will top the group with wins again 'A German team' and Celtic. City will still finish 2nd as predicted before the group games started.

I agree with the general point Kes, there was that season not long ago where Chelsea were looking unbeatable after half a dozen or so games and then tailed away really badly (perhaps the year City won it with Aguero's last minute winner?). It's so boom and bust and over hyping every little passage of play and form.

I have to disagree on last night though. City were pretty much on top the whole of the first half and Messi's opener came against the run of play (ironically not against the possession stats though) and even scored on a lightening quick counter because City got a bit too complacent with the ball in the Barca box. That's where Barca are so good though, they don't panic, and in Messi, Suarez and Neymar they have 3 exceptional forwards who can clinically finish off teams even if Barca aren't dominating.

It was the same story in the first game. City were more than a match for Barca until they had Bravo sent off.

Who said that? Was Owen Hargreaves commentating? Because literally everything is the best thing in the world to him.

I do agree, but i'm a bit :| you let it bother you. Football media is targeted at complete mouthbreathers, the Soccer AM generation if you will. I've all but given up watching, reading or listening to anything football related other than the actual games.

It doesn't bother me, as it is no longer part of my football experience. You repeatedly complain about this or similar.. why not take some steps to remove the hysteria that is ruining football for you?
