Not far away from the madness that is the Serie B playoffs. Frosinone look good for promotion and Genoa currently in second place. Unless the team in third place (currently Bari) opens a ten-point gap to 4th, every team within 14 points of third place after the final game of the season will enter the promotion playoffs. As of now, that includes Ternana in 11th spot.

Currently 4th are FC Sudtirol, a team playing amateur football until the turn of the century, and in their first season in the second tier, current Serie C champions.

as this appears to be 2nd tier focus day, I keep forgetting to mention the amazing run that St Pauli were on. 11 wins in a row taking them from mid table to promotion hopefuls. but they lost at the weekend, and the run was a bit too late in the season anyway.

the opposite to this is French Ligue 2 who took the insane decision to cancel the play offs this year and just promote the top 2 automatically to help cut down the number of teams in Ligue 1, rather than doing what we did here in 94/95 where 1 was automatic and then play offs were 2-5 (not sure if anyone remembers that on here). It means there are teams in Ligue 2 who's season was effectively over weeks ago.

and in Ligue 2 Saint-Etienne made a great recovery after a points deduction and an abysmal start that saw them bottom for weeks, and Bordeaux are in 2nd but only 1 point ahead of 3rd, so could easily blow it

And neither club are guaranteed to go up.

There are 5 divisions at the 4th tier level and only 4 promotion spots. The West and South-West division Champions get 2 of the spots. The 3rd direct spot rotates and this year the winners of the North division go straight up.

The champions of the other 2 divisions then play-off for the final spot - this year it will be North East V Bavaria.

Luxembourg judicial police went to the offices of Redbird, Elliott Management, Intertrust and Project Redblack today with a search & seizure order. The 4 companies are the seller, buyer, administration consulting group and holding company of AC Milan, tied into their sale in 2022.

They are being accused of 'abuse of corporate assets and fraudulent bankruptcy'.

Italian football never let's us down in this area!

His stock is falling rather quickly.

Wonder what job he’ll get next season.

To be fair to him, the cracks were already there - the aura surrounding Bayern seems to have faded this year with teams more willing to go at them that ever before - Dortmund have a decent run-in and would expect them to win it now but any slip up could well see Bayern still limp home.

Union are another 4 points back and whilst unlikely, they will continue to try and put pressure on the top 2.

You'd think they'd be a few bigger clubs sniffing around Union manager Urs Fischer in the summer. Done a great job.

big game for Roma tonight away at Atalanta

A win for Atalanta and it brings them firmly into the race for the top 4, while significantly denting Roma's chances of getting there. A win for Roma and Atalanta are pretty much out of the top 4 hunt

While I was disappointed to see Juve get their points back and go into 3rd place, them losing 3 in a row actually just means more drama and chaos in the race for CL qualification!

In Turkey, Galatasaray are 7 points clear with 7 games left to play. But in those 7 games are fixtures with Besiktas, Fenerbahce & Basaksehir!

I'm sure that'll be a nice calm run-in with no violence or controversy at all.

Well, with Juve having their 15 points restored, I wouldn't go that far.
