Southend United one step closer to their new stadium ready for 24/25 season. Scaled back plans to make it a 17,000 seater. Ironic that its bigger than Bournemouth and on par with Brentford but they have just had their lowest ever league position.

Certainly needs it. 2 sides of ground there is nothing you can do but surprised they never went further back on that newish stand they have. New works takes it back over 20,000.

According to my man at the ground (‘smuff sth) Fratton will have increased capacity…at the expense of even less leg room.
Love how they're keeping a traditional look. Very refreshing.

It's just feels a bit small to me. Two stands there look very average for a big 'ish' club.
Everton can't fill a 60k, so they don't need to fill in corners or every corner, and utilise every inch of space. They could have done something fresh with this, something more original; but it's very template and copy-cat again.
Good thing it's not a 60k capacity then as it's 52k.

I think the design is quite original for a hew build, especially considering the location. Admittedly, the seated bowl is quite generic but you don't hear the same criticism of Arsenal, Man City or Spurs where the only fundamental difference with those 3 is the seat colours. The difference is in the external view of the stadium. Even the Anfield redevelopment is trying to create more uniformity between stands.

Most new stadia look broadly similar on the inside. Kudos to Spurs, their single-tier south stand looks pretty impressive, and sets them apart from the exec box all around the middle that most big clubs opt for. 17,500 seats 
Think the new Everton stadium looks superb on the outside, sad to see them leave Goodison, but that dockside location gives it a chance of being pretty iconic.

Wondered when they'd get around to improving Villa Park, looks very dated now.
