Mr Angry
Sanguine That's a terrific signing for Inter, really surprised no bigger clubs were in for him.

Re Bony - and the Shaqiri transfer is somewhat of an antidote to this - it's depressing seeing every player who makes a mark ending up at one of the elite clubs. I know, that's the modern game, and Bony wants to play in the Champions League. But he's also likely to get only 1/2 to 2/3 of the game time at City as he would have at Liverpool or Spurs, who were also interested.

Likewise Odegaard, the Norwegian super-kid, apparently courted by most of Europe's top teams, of course he's on his way to Real Madrid, where he likely won't get a game for 3 or 4 years.

Nature of the game, but it would be good to see talent end up at 'second tier' clubs a bit more.

But they will; they will get loaned out by their parent club to a "second tier" club.

I read this week that (and no, its NOT having a dig at them!) Chelsea have 40 players out on loan; that really cannot be healthy for the game.

Healthy for Chelsea though. 8)

I remember when you couldn't stop talking up Josh Mceachran as Chelsea's next big hope.

started 2 league games for Vitesse Arnhem this season after failing to get into Watford & Wigan's starting XI

22 appearances for Chelsea, 92 career total appearances. Still made the first team and is still only 21.

How many of them do you see being first team regulars, Kes?

Who knows. It's always more difficult for players to get in the first team at clubs like Chelsea. Reading on the other hand is a different story. Jem Karacan wouldn't even get in our youth side tbf.

LOL - a very quick google shows he's on 15k a week, roughly 60k per month.

No. As you can have one or two over age players in the Youth Team squad.

The odd sub appearance is not the same as coming through and being a regular. Chelsea's poor record at producing their own players coupled with Mourinho's terrible record with young players who aren't named Raphael Varane means it's not looking good for the players you mentioned.

Is it though?

I would say it would surely all depend on how the loans are managed rather than just lots of loans = healthy

But I suppose this scenario is preferable to having useless players in the first team who have come through the ranks. Can you remind me which of City's youth ranks have played in the first team this season?

Because they have so much money and the pick of the worlds best players it's obviously very difficult for the likes of Chelsea, City and United to develop kids good enough to break into their first team.

Where United succeed more than the other two is they, or at least Fergie, seemed more willing to take a gamble on blooding youngsters into the first team and giving them the opportunity to make it. This season LvG has had to throw a few more in as well.

I'd guess that United also have the benefit of being a bigger club and so a longer history of being able to attract the cream of the country/worlds youngsters so they've always been working with better raw talent.

It will be interesting to see how this batch of Chelsea youngsters kick on as it looks like they've got some real talent and FFP might force the clubs to use them a bit more.

Only two then. And Boyata was being kept on to keep up the numbers of 'home grown' players in the City squad as they were looking to offload him a while ago.
