Royalclapper I get why UEFA seed the teams and the need to have a ranking system in place, but by any stretch of the imagination Arsenal are being afforded a status that's way beyond their ability level. If you get an easy group it's possible to keep getting through while better teams do not. It's never going to be perfect of course and the luck of the draw is important, it just doesn't sit right when you've got Dortmund and Man City ranked lower than Arsenal.

Really?

Man City - been in the champions league, what, twice and you reckon they should be seeded higher than a team who has got to the group stages 16 years in a row? - and have actually reached a final?!

Ugh, such atrocious spelling. History's worst monsters.

The aloo stained poppy is such a distressing image

After his touchline celeb on Wednesday and his comedy reaction to the draw yesterday I may have to downgrade Neil Lennon's pcunter status to justabitofacunt

Just seen the Chelsea/Basel goals - for their winner why didn't Chelsea have anybody on the post(s). If they had of done then that goal wouldn't have gone in

Nothing new there. Many teams don't have anyone on the posts.

Zonal vs man-to-man marking?

That doesn't make any sense

You have a player on each post and THEN you either man or zonal mark

The attacking team will always have around 4 players out of the game for a corner (GK, 2 DFs back and the corner taker) - so it means the defending team can have 2 on the post and a keeper leaving 1 up front - everyone else is matched up with a man.

I'd imagine Chelsea tell Dave Lewis to mark the post but he just wanders off

Nice to see the dirty thieving junkies Celtic getting done at home.

Good wins for Arsenal and Chelsea, some Napoli fans attacked the Piebury Corner Pie shop before the game at Arsenal.

Celtic game was great fun to watch, I thought that header just before they conceded was in for a second.

I wouldn't say it was nice, it was an ITV oxf*rd up to show Celtic when they could have chosen Chelsea or Arsenal. I have zero interest in watching Celtic.

I too, was a little perplexed to see ITV covering Celtic. A shambles considering they're a Scottish/Irish team.

It seemed an odd choice, but most Champions League matches are shit between well-matched teams of dull players, generally only enlivened by odd refereeing decisions. So to go for David v Goliath was a good idea.

At least one of the benefits of devolution is that we won't have to fake interest reporting on their mickey mouse league.
