And here I was thinking you were serious

It's gonna be Chelsea for the Prem and Bayern for the Champs league..
And nobody cares about the other two Arsenal are doomed to fail this good start is just another way to kick their fans in the teeth when they come 4th

How many teams have retained the champions league in this format? Bayern are a very good side but so were Barca a couple of years ago, hailed as the best ever in some quarters and they didn't win it two years running.

I know there hasnt been two years in a row since Milan (is that right?) but this is a Bayern side that has gotten to the final twice in the last 3 years and I honestly expect to see them there or there abouts again this year I said them because they have to be the favorites and of the other possible teams Bayern just look better.

I'm not sure about that.

Giroud much better than last year.

Ozil better than anything they've had in recent years.

Ramsey a revelation.

Sagna back to fitness and form.

Chesney back on form.

Wilshere's fitness (somewhat) more reliable.

Walcott and Ox to come back.

So many reasons to think they will continue to be better than last year.

I agree with all of that and add Podolski to the coming back soon list but I can still see them not winning anything just playing very nice football..

King of Sting Yes that's right but why 5 years ? why not 8 ? Because you would have to add a champions league and an FA Cup to that. Meanwhile, Arsenal, who I don't mind by the way, have won nothing since our champions league win. Are they a non entity too ?

Why 13 years and not 3?

Because it's half a decade and covers recent history nicely. If I was going to be selective I'd pick 4 years so liverpool hadn't finished in the top 4. Arsenal have been finishing top 4 and are looking possible title contenders this seaosn. But the whole point was that I respect Arsenal for the sensible way the club is run and the excellent football. Not the comparative success. And I respect utd for the tremendous long running success. Neither apply to also rans Liverpool.

Erm, sorry Ian but 4 years ago was 2009 and Liverpool finished 2nd then. If Liverpool are 'also rans' and 'non entities' like you have said, what does that make your team ?

2008/09, 2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12, 2012/13. 5 years / seasons ago you thick knut.

Lol comparing liverpool to reading? That's a bit desperate. We're a yoyo club with more history than liverpool and a more than fair share of records that'd like to make up the numbers in the top flight..

F.A.O. Mr Ian Royle

Erm you are the thick kunt because you never stipulated 4 seasons. You said 4 years so I latched straight on to that. Perhaps you should be less ambiguous in your posts. I was pre warned about this from people who have had run ins with you on the team board but I had decided to give you the benefit of the doubt. Wrongly it seems. Anyone who describes a team that hasn't finished outside of the top 8 since being promoted in 1961 as also rans is indeed a thick kunt.

Why top 8 and not top 6? or 7? or 5 even? Is it because it proves your point while disproving his? A lil bit of consistency would be good bud.. complaining about someone picking specific conditions in one hand and then selecting specific conditions in the other is called being a cock end. I mean we finished in 8th the first season we went up so were we contenders that year?

I never said we were contenders in a season when we finished 8th.Although no other team comes even close to this level of consistency over a 50 year plus period. I disagreed with Ian when he described LFC as a "Non-Entity" which I considered a bit disrespectful for many reasons not least that we were 3rd in the prem at the time (currently 2nd). Personally I wouldn't be so dismissive of any team/club myself.
Anyway, this doesn't really belong in the Arsenal thread so maybe we should just drop it.

You mean apart from when you implied Reading are far worse (which of course we are). You're sitting on that high horse backwards.

No high horse from me Ian. Just found your post about Liverpool being a "non entity" a little unnecessary and wondered how you would rate Reading if that is the way you rate Liverpool. It is very rare that I would be so disrespectful to any football club, even about teams I don't like because I understand what the club they support mean to people.

Nope. Even when I was laughing at someone suggesting they were a "genuine power" while Liverpool were also rans I made it clear I didn't mind them or their fans. Just laughed because they have not won anything at all for ages,

The 2nd decent opposition they've faced this season and they lose again - can't see them sustaining a title push all season. Until they get some strength in depth, another trophyless season for me.

BentdneROFL is not a second striker you want to have if you're going to be pushing for silverware.

Loss of Flamini was the big thing, plus, and I know its a cliche, 10 plus attempts on goal, 1 on target. Often the ball played across goal for the player to either take a touch or come back inside to where the players already were.

Neither keeper had a save to make all night.

World-class competition for Giroud and another proper defensive midfielder like Flamini in January and they might just get top four.
