St. Brynjar
World-class competition for Giroud and another proper defensive midfielder like Flamini in January and they might just get top four.

Might? Dont be daft whens the last time they finished outside of the top 4?? They finished fourth last season with an inferior squad! They sign a world class striker and another Flamini they have this year in the bag.

I am not one of these bellends who posts when their team wins and then stays away after a defeat so here goes. I thought Arsenal were superb yesterday and played Liverpool off the park for most of the game. Their quick, one touch passing game is very easy on the eye and I for one believe they have a great chance of winning the league this year. Anyone who has seen my post in the prediction thread will see that I have never thought Liverpool had a realistic chance of winning the league but I thought we could challenge for top 4 and probably just miss out as I had us down as 5th. I am actually quite pleased with the way Liverpool have started and would have been happy to be on 20 points from our first 10 games if I was offered it at the start, But I don't think anyone thought Arsenal would be close to 25 points already. They have achieved this playing a brand of football that is very attractive. I would be quite happy for them to win it.

How come Arteta wasn't suspended after his straight red last week? I know there was a cup game but isn't what he did a 3 game ban?

"Professional" foul is a 1 match ban. How long have you been watching football?

Amazes me how many people seem to think any red card is a three match ban.

Indeed.

Awful game though, neither side looked even close to being potential champions.

even I accept that that is harsh, St Brynjar.

The game was very disappointing, though. Some very average players in both teams imo, based on that match (Gibbs, Giroud, Cazorla, Wilshere, Kagawa, Smalling, Jones, Evans). Mind you, Man City's line-up pisses on that, but that's not doing them much good. Ditto Chelsea (one luckycheat point from six).

I'd loooove it if Southampton managed to upset these teams.

Kinda depressing how far Southampton have progressed since the 3-1 at their place. And us in the other direction.

I'm sure I read over the weekend that exactly 3 years ago to the day, they were 3rd bottom in League 1. Remarkable turnaround.

yep, I have this bitter, jealous feeling too, but there are far worse clubs around and, on balance, I am pleased it's them.

Being a glory boy, Saints are my Premiership team this season. Well, them and Palace :| .

St. Brynjar Very poor from Arsenal.

I haven't heard anyone from Arsenal using it as an excuse but the commentators pre-game referred to a bug that had gone around the Arsenal camp, and that some who were starting the game were not feeling 100%.

If true, in the circumstances to get beaten 1-0 away at the reigning Champions by a flukey goal was probably not a bad outcome.
