Conservative_dad Gerrard had a worse win rate this season than GNeville at Sevilla

One got the piss ripped out of him and vowed never to go back into management the other is still considered a promising young manager

Neville had a 0% win rate at Sevilla.

How can the press go around saying a manager is going to be sacked, when he hasn't been sacked? Ol Ralf at Soton seems to be being treated really badly. Their fans need to be careful what they wish for.

Inevitable really.
Likeable bloke who did well for a while and helped out by having Ward-Prowse.
This season Ward-Prowse has not reached his best form so Southampton don't perform.

Having been stuffed by Newcastle he must wonder what he might have been able to do with £200 million as must Steve Bruce.
We know that money doesn't guarantee success ( look at Man Utd and Everton) but it can go a long way towards building a reasonable team when spent well as seen with Howe at Newcastle and Potter at Brighton.

Genuine question, but how much have Newcastle spent.

It doesn’t seem to be that much, or have I just missed it all ?

£200M-ish so far apparently (january and summer combined)

Its huge for them, but in terms of what the teams in the top 4 are regularly spending its really not. and its mostly across quite a number of players, with Isak being the only 'big' fee so far

I actually think they have gone about it in a very decent way (i am not talking about ownership here, just who they have brought in)

Looks like Nathan Jones is the preferred choice for Saints.

Yep, seems like a very sensible choice. Will be very interesting to see how Luton continue if he does go, could easily implode if they pick the wrong manager to replace.

i guess the fact that there’s not been huge signings is why that’s slipped under the radar a bit

They’ve spent shed loads…

January 2022

Kieran Trippier from Atletico for £12,000,000
Chris Wood from Burnley for £25,000,000
Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon for £35,000,000
Dan Burn from Brighton for £13,000,000

June 2022

Matt Targett from Villa for £15,000,000
Nick Pope from Burnley for £10,000,000
Sven Botman from Lille for £32,000,00

July 2022

Charlie McArthur from Hibernian for an undisclosed fee

August 2022

Alexander Isak from Sociedad for £63,000,000

So I make that a total of £205,000,000

Last time he went, he went to Stoke and lasted 9 months - wonder if he’ll be returning to Luton next year….!

Think he will do ok. Good at bringing on and developing young players. Guess he wasn't a fit at Stoke because they wanted to spend on established players. Soton have spent 40 mill on a lot of youngsters.....if they are any good he will be fine.
