Harlow Town have just issued a statement resigning from the Southern league. They have blamed problems with their new 3g pitch as the reason for having to take this step.

 Plenty of others have folded this season, but Harlow are a ‘relatively’ larger club.

...and a bit of a shock about Harlow - though always thought they could have progressed more given their facilities etc. Suppose they are competing with quite a few similar sized clubs along that Herts/Essex corridor by the M25.

Had much publicised issues with the 3G since having it re-laid earlier this year.

Went a couple of times included a visit on a Sunday to see their lodgers in a Cup tie - quite a while back - one of the Enfields if I recall correctly?

Was surprised they were in the Southern - an unfortunate by product of being on the borders of the two constitutions bit like Potters Bar/Waltham Abbey/Cheshunt - fairly certain they had their better years in the Isthmian and didn't prosper on their occasioanal residence in the more western based league.

....and not long ago had Sonko in their ranks too.....

Loafer
Four Of Clubs .

Alresford Town.... can you expand on what happened here please? Seems interesting and some real crazy reversal

...not found a lot on an initial delve: after a fairly inauspicious time having joined the Wessex Premier in about 2007
- they did finish runners-up twice in the mid-10s scoring over 120 goals both seasons ......and were running away with the league in 2019/20 -
From very vague memory they had a lengthy 100% start but faded a bit around the New Year - their ground never did well in poor weather.

Quite why they have now imploded is a mystery - though not uncommon for this league - other relatively well-set Wessex sides such and Amesbury, Bashley, Whitchurch, Andover and Folland have suffered recent near vertical declines.
My guess - without doing further club media research- is that playing staff/management here perhaps faced the prospect of limited progression with the club structured the way it is. I do know the current manager is a relatively new appointment.
- Arlebury Park shares its facilities with other amenities and the club building itself is a town/council-owned community resource.
The playing area is in a relatively open public area too and I doubt they can get permission to enclose properly.

Several(like myself) got in free and some only paid 50% gate money- so probably wasn`t a money spinner.

Ben Harris back at Windsor.

With the racing off that means I’ll pay a visit to Stag Meadow today with a spring in my step (1st game for me for a couple of months).

.... much as I forewarned above - virtually the entire CCL programme WAS ruled out by frozen conditions - only a very small handful went ahead and I suspect exclusively on 3G surfaces.
More in the much foreshortened review later .....

Yeah, I’d just got my 5 layers on and about to walk out the door when I got the update that the game was off.

Caused a bit of a rumpus as it appears the pitch was not frozen (key went in all over the pitch) and it wasn’t forecast to get below freezing until after 6pm.

Holyport were in the ref’s ear asking for it to be called off. OF COURSE they were, they know Ben Harris could defeat them single-handedly!

Harris has other offers apparently and is only with us for a few games. Now one fewer than it might have been.

The midweek games for Maidenhead at Altrincham, Hungerford at home to StAlbans and Bracknell v Tiverton have all been postponed due to frozen pitches. Slough’s trip to Chelmsford fell foul of the weather yesterday.

Royals and Racers Bracknell are not resting on their laurels have signed Guy Hollis from Slough Town.

Slough striker Ben Harris has followed Guy to Bracknell, though is cup tied so won’t feature at Eastbourne today. Ben was on Bracknell’s books some years ago before moving to Hampton & Richmond and then a stint in New Zealand.

left it late to post as so many are being frozen off - here's the last dregs remaining involving our 'local' NL clubs:

Saturday 17th December

FA Trophy Third Round

Yeovil Town v Dorking Wanderers - further pitch Inspection at 13:30 - clubs hoping it will thaw out more by then

IL1-SC
Basingstoke Town v Walton & Hersham
Guernsey v Hanworth Villa

CCL-PN
Ascot United v Windsor
CCL-PS
Jersey Bulls v Alton
CCL-1
British Airways v Eversley & California
NOTE @ Bedfont - really not sure about this one as it isn't 3G unlike next door at Sports? Nothing on either clubs' twitter yet

SSM-1
Rugby Borough v Holmer Green
