Franchise FC
Pepe the Horseman Zakly. Not sure where they're gonna go from here. Would be good for us if they take Zola. Wouldn't be shocked to see them go for Lennon.

That wouldn't be so bad for us either as I'm sure the rumour is that Celtic would go for Coyle, who apparently has a release clause if Celtic come calling, and that could screw Wigan for a while.

Coyle staying will screw Wigan for a while.

The row was brought to a tense conclusion when one player commented: “All you have done since you got here is criticise us and the old manager [Martin O’Neill]. The difference is we liked him and would run through walls for him. Nobody likes you here. Nobody wants you here.”

Would love to see a manager or two at my place face such a rebellion!

Shame that they didn't like him enough to actually win a few games.

The charismatic manager, who was fired for poor results on Sunday, stormed the Stadium of Light with tanks and helicopters before making an impassioned address on the club’s YouTube channel.

He said: “It takes time to turn a club around and the players I have purchased this summer deserve a chance to settle in. That is why I have seized this club by force and have ordered a reel of piano wire for my talks with senior players.

“No longer will this club operate under the communist rule of the FA. Where is the logic in winning a war and leaving your opponents to fight another day, or letting a player leave who then comes back to score against you with his unbroken legs?

“Twelve points have been stolen from us this season. The communists might settle for the loss of three points to West Bromwich Albion, but I say no! I say we must take those points back!

“To this end I have authorised a low-level bombing raid on the Hawthorns, to be followed by a lightning strike by our infantry led by Lee Cattermole.”

Fans gathered around Sunderland’s ground were thought to have hung effigies of chairman Ellis Short and caretaker manager Kevin Ball from lampposts, until it became apparent that they weren’t effigies.

Peterborough United, Sunderland’s opponents in tonight’s League Cup game, have confirmed they have received a fax from Di Canio requesting their unconditional surrender.

Owen Coyle has a clause in his contract to allow him to join Celtic if they come in for him

It's not actually in his contract. It's a gentleman's agreement with Whelan when they first spoke. I can't see Whelan standing in his way for any Prem or European club to be honest. Either way he should of taken the Celtic job after Strachan left!

Can see why to be fair. He's brought incredible stability but they're just stagnating in mid table with an average squad, without ever being bad enough to deserve the sack. Shame for him but if they get the right man it could prove a very shrewd decision.

Martin O'Neil linked nice and early, and some of their fans seem to favour Tony Pulis.

I'm beginning to wonder how long Bolton will keep faith with Freedman - 4 points from 9 games now. He can't have much longer left surely unless he can find a few wins and quickly

I hadn't realised he had been assistant manager there under Jim Smith before moving to Man Utd. And previously a player for them too in the 80s.

Think Tony Pulis is taking an extended break. Still find it weird they sacked him - didn't realise Derby were in bad form/in crisis.

Derby have no money and always have to sell, NC had a difficult job of balancing the books every year e.g. selling players like Shackell and has basically worked wonders by keeping them up and keeping them involved in the fringes of a play off place race most seasons. Derby board are the ones who should go, it's a ridiculous move.
