football is so weird. you don't get owners of big companies going:

'hmm who can we get in to steady the ship and get our sales results back to where they should be?'

'what about the guy we sacked not long ago for tanking our sales numbers? maybe he could do a job'

'are you sure? I mean, we are free to choose from a many, many people, in fact we could make all sorts of changes and bring in various people that could help improve things, but you think we just need to go with the one guy that failed before and just give him his old job back and hope somehow it all goes really differently this time?'

'yes, exactly that. just got a good vibe about it'

'ok, good vibes decision it is, get him in!'

I would imagine that Harris was given permission to talk to Millwall by Cambridge after the Millwall chairman agreed compensation terms with Cambridge so hardly going to be a case of him just suddenly resigning and applying for the Millwall job esp. as Edwards was only sacked yesterday.

It was all done very quickly so presume Millwall had been talking terms with Cambridge since the weekend. Incidentally, Joe Edwards started his Millwall tenure with a 4-0 win at Sheff Wed and it ended with the 2-0 home defeat to the same club.

Millwall sacked him about 3 years ago for being crap. It says a lot about a man who'd go back to a club that told the world he wasn't good enough, its slightly degrading for him.

He should have finished the season with Cambridge, got them up to finish in midtable (which is a great achievement) and then move on.

Doubt he sees it as degrading - he probably feels he has improved as a manager since he was fired and Millwall is his club. Crappy move though to walk out on Cambridge so quickly.

Bit crap on the Millwall side as well, Harris was available when they went with Edwards so could easily have employed him then but clearly weren't sure about his return then.

I suspect Cardiff and Gillingham fans might have something to say about that

In my first 2 years at my current job, we had 3 permanent CEOs and 1 interim as results weren't good enough.

Was Neil Harris one of them?

That example is wrong. Harris had done a very decent job at Millwall leading them to promotion to the Championship and then consolidating them at that level before resigning (not sacked) in 2019. A month after he resigned he became manager at Cardiff and led them to the 2019/20 play offs where they were turned over by Fulham. Would suggest he's a decent manager of a standard Reading probably haven't seen for at least a decade.

Jesus Christ, Neil Harris' agent is a member here apparently!

I haven't seen this level of loyalty since Korea.

Has Vincent Kompany got a free pass or something?

Doesn't ever seem to be criticised but he's got them playing this bizarre passing football from the back and they're basically relegated already

Cardiff fans really didn't like him and his brand of hoofball, he was dreadful at Gillingham and he's clearly done the shit on Cambridge. Doesn't strike me as a particularly progressive manager.

And he's got a plastic bollock.

It was a throwaway comment about Harris and not meant to be taken seriously, hence the wink emoji.

His work at raising awareness of testicular cancer and it's early diagnosis is to be much applauded. However, on the footballing side, Millwall is the only club at which he is remembered with any fondness.

As the bored Policeman and the self appointed spokesman for the HNA masses, maybe I’ll take you advice.

Keep-up with your charm offensive in the meantime kid.
