Arne Slot of Feyenoord now a front-runner to replace Klopp, with Amorim also now linked to West Ham (as is Lopetegui).

His record since caretakering has been the same as the last fifteen

Being reported that Hull have just sacked Liam Rosenior, which seems ridiculous, but nothing is surprising in football I guess.

My brother (who supports Hull) has tried to justify it by saying the last third of the season wasn't great at all, home form particularly.

I think that is complete bullshit personally. Rosenior really improved Hull, made them quite an attractive side. Did they seriously believe promotion was on the cards? Another mad foreign owner who has more money than sense!

no matter what your expectations really (Leicester aside), if you are going along around 6th place most of the season you can't knock that. It takes a lot of hard work, good appointments, solid organsisation and a bit of luck here and there to be in with a shout of the play offs until the final day. To throw all that away to go looking for someone knew seems very risky. Especially for a club that isn't exactly a big club for that level.

first 1/3 of season - 23 points
middle 1/3 of season - 22 points
last 1/3 of season - 25 points
(then they lost the last games of the season)

Over 12 games the form was average (15 pts) but over the last 8, they were top 10 again and their final day defeat was the only one in the last 6, so really they had a dodgy 6 game spell which may have cost them top 6.

it is of course a ridiculous decision but Rosenior gets a lovely payout and will be able to walk into any decent Championship job that comes up you'd think. The Hull owner sounds like a complete basket case anyway.

What were their expectations? They haven't been top half in the Championship since they last got promoted to the Premier League. Finishing seventh was a great season for them.

Now hoping they'll do a Birmingham next season.

You just know that if they had gone up and had a dodgy start to the season he'd have been sacked by October anyway. Owner is a headcase.

Problem is that sacking the manager is the only lever an owner has to pull to exert and control and demonstrate to the world that they're in command of the situation.

The rational and sensible ones would have just left well alone and trusted a manager to do what they're being paid for - but anyone rational and sensible won't have bought a football club in the first place.
