XXXVIIth UEFA Congress in London tomorrow where they will take a vote on whether to allow Gibraltar to become a full member.

I really want this to happen just to see Spain do their nut

Up until I read about this yesterday, I thought Gibraltar was an island off of Spain, not attached to the Spanish mainland.

I'd quite like to see Guernsey (who are reasonably handy, apparently), Jersey, Sark, Alderney and the Isle of Man also all get teams that play in the European Qualifiers. That would make the rest of Europe do their nut.

Can you imagine the cricket scores you'd get for Alderney vs Germany away or Spain vs Sark at home?

You just know that we would scrape past Isle of Man 1-0 with a late penalty

As somebody with Gibraltar heritage and a sweet left peg, I hope this happens.

Gibraltar isn't a country.

So throw England, Scotland, Wales and NI out of UEFA too.

Heard someone on the radio yesterday from the Gibraltar FA who said their selection process is basically that you have to have been born there to qualify.

I assume though that if they become a full UEFA member they then have to abide by usual UEFA rules on selection. not that they can't have an in house agreement to continue ignoring people not born there I suppose

Good luck to Gibralter. There's so many Mickey Mouse nations clogging up the fixtures these days I don't see why Gib can't join in, if anything just to wind up the spicks.

Voted in

The FA ‏@FA 3m

Gibraltar FA has been accepted as an official member of UEFA at Congress today. UEFA now has 54 member associations.

I don't mind it at all. Although i'd rather see a pre qualifying stage for the smallest sides.

Also i'd take the international breaks out of the season and put a month at the end with plenty of international games.
