England Squad

So if the World Cup started tomorrow, and you had to name a 23 today, bearing in mind all current injuries/suspensions, who would you have?

No idea, but it wouldn't include Lampard or Milner.

I'd have all players from the lower divisions and non-league.

Jimmy Kebe is a shoe in - he is a national of every country in the world, remember.

My current starting line-up would be something like:

---------------------------------Hart-----------------------------------

Johnson-------------Jones----------------Cahill-------------------Cole

-----------Carrick-----------Wilshere------------Gerrard(c)-----------

---------Sturridge------------Rooney--------------Walcott-----------

But I'd like to see Johnson phased out and Lowton brought in over this season. Jones is the better long-term prospect than Jagielka but they're interchangable. We're pretty strong in central midfield - Parker, Barry, Lampard & Rodwell can all perform reasonably there.

For the full squad:
GK
Hart
Carson
McCarthy (obvs)

DF
Johnson
Lowton
Cole
Baines
Jagielka
Jones
Cahill
Lescott

MF
Gerrard
Lampard
Wilshere
Carrick
Parker
Young

FW
Walcott
Welbeck
Rooney
Sturridge
Oxlade-Chaimberlain
Lambert

Probably missed out a load of good players. Oh wait it's England.

No Walker at all? He'll be England's next right-back, shirley?

Otherwise, 'greed except for Jones, he's got to play a season there for a club side before he'll be ready for England.

Never been keen on Walker, number two by default. Would rather see Bertrand!

Wiki says 'striker/winger' - does he ever actually play on the wing?

Strange choice but I'll trust Hodgson's judgement, he has a good record so far with new players brought into the squad.

As opposed to the prolific 13 in 71 for Wellbeck. Not scoring at a faster rate for their club sides doesn't mean they're not playing well or that they're not capable of doing a job for England.

Do you think Gibbs is sitting back waiting for Cole and Baines to retire to get that first team spot or by that time will Shaw be better than him?

Personally I think Shaw is already better than him.

I would have picked Hooper ahead of Rodriguez but i think due to the fact he's playing for a shit team at the moment hasn't helped him

And Bertrand to be honest, but I'm not a big fan of Gibbs to be honest.
