Silver Fox I don't understand why the Martial penalty on Sunday took as long on the VAR plus sending the ref to watch, one look at the replay and you could see he was tripped, yet they had multiple looks and then sent the ref to the screen, which is always a fait accompli really

Yeah I thought that. There was one angle I think where it wasn't that clear but 2/3 others that was very easy to see it was a penalty as well. I personally don't mind the time it takes considering they come to the "correct" decision (I think listening to the in-time audio like in Rugby would probably help this) but that one should have been sorted pretty swiftly. Also a bit surprised Young didn't get a second booking for it, maybe a tad harsh though.

Saw an amazing stat that I find hard to believe but Lewis dunk was the first player to be shown a straight red for dissent in the premier league at the weekend for 15 years since Alan smith for Newcastle in 2008

Pretty sure Dunk got two yellows in very quick succession.

But yeah, given it's a red card for using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or action(s), cannot believe that hasn't occurred once in the last 15 years.

I wonder what is says about Ferguson when the most successful manager from his many years as Man Utd boss is a toss up between Gordon Strachan, Steve Bruce and Mark Hughes. (Laurent Blanc wasn't there long enough to justify inclusion.)

Looks so bad, there must be a match fixing angle.

Possibly.

But I do find it surprising that the most successful manager of all time has had an almost unbroken succession of failures in management from his pupils. It seems like the longer a player was with him, the less likely they are to be successful in management.

And pretty much the same applies to his succession of No 2s.

At the very least I find it odd because I would have expected it to be the other way around.

While it's funny, as for once it's City on the receiving end, you have to  at the standard of refereeing in this country, and this time all managed without the aid of VAR.
