URZZZZ
genome No it’s a nonsense.

I don’t care about all the logical arguments for VAR, football is an emotional game. VAR has ruined it

Agreed

No way would anyone have called that goal out pre-VAR

All this micro-analysing of everything nowadays, from refereeing decisions to counting the number of passes each individual makes in a game has taken a fair amount away from the game IMO

You can bet your life Sky would have spent a very, very, very large amount of time analysing it for the next week or so leading the Chelsea fans crying over it forever had there been no VAR and the goal had stood.

Pundits have spent weeks saying Everton will get 4 points back. Today they were given 4 points back.

Seems odd to me. Why that specific number of points?

Probably because they'll get another 4-6 off in a few weeks for the latest breach.

A three-person appeal board concluded that the independent commission which imposed the 10-point ban "made legal errors" on two grounds.

It said the commission was "wrong" to punish Everton for being "less than frank" over what it told the Premier League about its new stadium debt.

The appeal board also said the commission was "wrong not to take into account available benchmarks" and that a six-point sanction was "broadly in line" with English Football League guidelines.

Sounds a bit like they've now set a precedent where you can now lie to the Premier League and hide a load of debt as stadium development without worrying about getting docked points for it.

NathStPaul One of football's darkest days this.

Liverpool’s under 21’s beating a £1bn Chelsea side is a great day for football

This. Chelsea's 'super squad' of inexperience and poor quality humbled by a team that has seen eight academy graduates get a winners' medal. The club as a whole might not be, but Liverpool's cup winners an antidote to Chelsea's 'billion pound bottle jobs'.

No Alisson, Trent, Salah, Nunez, Szobsozlai, Jones, Jota. No problem.

How Caicedo avoided punishment for the challenge on Gravenberch, I don't know.

Seems that Liverpool have dodged real bullets in failing to sign Kak-edo and Lavia (one December sub appearance and then injured). Brighton and Soton must both be laughing all the way to their respective banks.

Agree, utterly stupid statement - the appeal board should be done for bringing the game into disrepute over that.

Thing is, they'd have probably thrived at Liverpool. I know some people don't like his sometimes sharp interviews, or his touchline antics, but I genuinely think Klopp is probably the best coach, the best man manager, in the game in my lifetime. Certainly up there with Sir Alex.

He plucked Endo out of Stuttgart for £19m, and the lad put Caicedo in his pocket last night. He took off Mac Allister and Gakpo near the end of normal time and replaced them with Bobby Clark and Jayden Danns, and they took that confidence Klopp had in them and helped to win the trophy. Phenomenal stuff.

Lets not get too carried away in the romance of kids winning a cup. Liverpool's starting line up had a lot experience as well as youth. Their central defensive partnership alone cost more than £100M.

Has Klopp's league record been all that?

8, 4, 4, 2, 1, 3, 2, 5 LFC (Klopp)
5, 6, 2, 6, 3, 2, 6, 3 UTD (Various)

Utd have been considered a joke in the Klopp period but have finished above his side as many times as LFC have finished above us

Cue some "new" £1b toilets in the Matthew Harding Stand and an invoice to Caicedo Plumbing Services.

 nothing to smile about, back to business as usual! Too many key players out and not enough depth in the squad

Are Chelsea trying to win or do they have some new strategy designed just to make cash?

Not sure how they intend to achieve that, mind! The players they have paid a lot for all seem young enough to move on for a bigger fee when they hit their 'prime'

1 CL, 1 FA Cup, 2 Carabao,
1 EL, 1 FA Cup, 1 Carabao

Not doubting Klopp but his record isn't exactly amazing

Aren't you missing a league title there Brobs?
You'd have loved Klop to have come in and turned Man U round like he has Liverpool.

Feel a bit for the Maidstone fans, their big FA Cup tie getting shunted to a Monday night for TV is a bullshit decision.
