Ups & Downs 2021/22

by Winston Biscuit » 16 Mar 2022 21:51

Feels a bit late to be starting our annual U&D thread but here it is.

For ages the top end of League 1 has been interesting me most but the promotion chasers in League 2 have really closed the gap now and anyone in the top 10 could still quite easily finish as high as 2nd place.

Keep wondering if Portsmouth can still make the play offs but they have been so inconsistent that even with a game in hand it looks like a step too far. I am mostly cheering on Plymouth for promotion.

After going down 1-0 with something of a whimper on Tuesday night at home to a relegation-threatened rival in Barrow, is that it for Scunthorpe United? 10 points adrift now at the bottom of League 2...

Who else goes with them?

Carlisle's recent escape from danger at the bottom of league 2 has been really impressive.

Oldham Vs Stevenage in 2 weeks time :o

Doncaster look a bit of a mess. Spent 1 season in the 4th tier in the last 18 years but look like they may well be heading back that way.

Wouldn't mind their manager next season! He's done a great job, on limited resources, and talks a good game.

Another play-off for them. No chance of auto. At least they're local and it's a decent ground too. I'd sooner the Dons went up than the knuckle draggers at Oxford.

At least if MK:Dons do go up and we stay up, people will focus on them being the Championship's Soulless Bowl team, because while ours is a bit soulless at times, that place is oxf*rd desolate.

Might have missed a discussion elsewhere, but what on earth has happened to Forest Green. They were clear and up, now no win in seven and probably looking over their shoulder.

Anyone know anything about Dorking Wanderers? They sit top of National League South, having also been top of the table when the 20-21 season was curtailed. A decade ago they were winning Division Three of the Sussex League, the first of six promotions in that time.

Would like to see Arbroath (second by two points) edge Kilmarnock for promotion from the Scottish Championship, just for a 'new' team in the SPL.

Ta. Awesome stuff. Especially the owner himself being one of the players, with his mates, for the first few years.

Forest Green always seem to blow up at this stage of the season.

Also seen FGR blow up a bit as they messed up some acca's for me.

They currently have 69 points with 10 games to go. last 5 years to get automatic promotion from L2 you have needed 78, 64*, 76, 80 & 77 points

They have Colchester (19th) and Scunthorpe (24th) up next

they'll go up just fine

When the MK Dons fans turn on us it'll really hurt.

They should just start calling us tinpot and irrelevant from the start to win over the rest of the league.

Went to their stadium once, never again. It is the most depressing place in the Football League, just miserable.
