Womens euros 2022 thread

by Brogue » 06 Jul 2022 20:47

Anyone watching? Not a woman’s football fan myself but I’ve got it on, and it’s passing the time.

It’s on and the first half seemed to go pretty quickly so I assume it wasn’t too bad

Somewhat overshadowed by a government meltdown last night.

Millie Bright was superb. A real presence and composed on the ball.

Good start for England against an awkward Austria.

Amazing 1st half v Norway.

6-0. Should be more. Beth Mead is having a brilliant game.

Fantastic performance. 8-0 (and still some sitters missed) against a team ranked only 3 places below us.

 Well done ladies !!

Fans were loving it. A nice family friendly atmosphere compared to the usual shirtless toothless big robs giving it large at England mens games

I have tickets to the semi final in Sheffield and fully expect England to be there. Phenomenal performance last night against tournaments dark horses. Spain and Germany will desperately want to win tonight in order to avoid us.

Well that was bloody excellent.

This England team is as good to watch as the men’s team. The improvement in the last decade has been amazing. And it’s going to keep getting better which is really exciting.

I have tickets to the semi so was not happy when it looked like I'd be watching Spain. Spain were excellent and will feel very hard done by. They were technically superior to us for sure. But we have depth and experience and got over the line. Last night also showed the importance of a top manager at this level. Our subs changed the game, and our equaliser came after a formation change. Spain let up and dropped deep at 1-0 which was costly. I won't make any read across comments about the mens team on this point.

Enjoyed the game but also enjoyed the eye candy of a lino on the far side, she`s in the wrong job.

The winner was superb.

The quality is decent but still some considerable way short of League 2 on a consistent basis

Still a very enjoyable watch

Oh, and Russo definitely bullies defenders (in a very good way) in a way that Ellen White simply doesn’t at the moment

Saw a massive twitter spat going on last night with regards to our winner and no-one was stopping that - even at male level. Personally i would be giving my talented son at 11 a stare if he did not get close to that.

Is it true the spanish keeper is 5 foot 7?

Its was a decent strike but nowhere near the corner so you'd expect any pro male keeper to at least have got a hand to it but at 5ft 7 the Spanish keeper didn't have much chance.
What's the average height of the professional women's keepers?

The average height of starting goalkeepers in the Women's Super League (WSL) 2021-2022 season is 5ft 8in.
