I'm waiting for his excuse. Maybe the ball was too round.

Klaksvik from the Faroe Islands continue their run by beating Molde in the first leg of the 3rd qualifying round for the CL

Winner of that tie will likely play Galatasaray for a place in the CL group stage

Hearts went a goal down to Rosenborg last night, and 1-3 on aggregate, before a stunning comeback and this injury time winner to send them through to the Conference League play-off round, where they play PAOK.

Can't see that ever happening and if it does, I may well just give up on football totally.

The old argument will come out about Israel though. Why should they be allowed teams in the competition when Saudi Arabia aren't?

Not suggesting for a second that they should be allowed teams in it btw, just predicting an argument that will be made.

Think that is a whole different kettle of fish, and one that is so much more nuanced and problematic than the possible inclusion of KSA.

If that will be the argument made, it'll be incredibly lazy.

If this ends up coming to pass, KSA have to earn their coefficient, they can't just be parachuted into the CL - start out in Europa Conference League and work your way from there. KSA would also have to move their national team over to Euros (like Isreal). If that happens, I think they can forget about qualifying for a World Cup anytime soon.

Not that I'll be watching.

They won't need to worry in a few years time. Guarantee they will be named as host nation for the World Cup 2030.

Nah, won't happen for 2030, 2034 however...

There's a world of difference between posing a genuine security risk and blatant sportswashing.

Saudi Arabia quite frankly can get fcuked.

Yeah, that's about as bad as it might have got. City might have had Real, Atletico, Inter or Dortmund. But got RB Leipzig. Arsenal will be happy. They should win their group.

Hardest draw possible for Newcastle, but 6 matches to really look forward to and 3 possible away days to remember.

They are not going to win, so if i was a fan I think I would prefer that draw tbh. Would probs see it as the best draw possible.

  1. Bayern Munich, Manchester United, FC Copenhagen, Galatasaray
  2. Sevilla, Arsenal, PSV Eindhoven, RC Lens
  3. Napoli, Real Madrid, Braga, Union Berlin
  4. Benfica, Inter Milan, Salzburg, Real Sociedad
  5. Feyenoord, Atletico Madrid, Lazio, Celtic
  6. Paris St-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, Newcastle
  7. Manchester City, RB Leipzig, Red Star Belgrade, Young Boys
  8. Barcelona, Porto, Shakhtar Donetsk, Royal Antwerp
While Newcastle have a very difficult draw, I think it's the most even group of the eight on paper. There's no reason Newcastle couldn't go on to win that group, but there's no reason they couldn't come last.

I think Arsenal have a difficult draw too; Lens came second in Ligue 1 last season only a point behind PSG. I think Sevilla and PSV are both strong sides. Man City and Man Utd should easily get through their groups.

I do love a proper proverbial "group of death"

Feel like we haven't had one for years and now we have a lovely one
