Antoine Griezmann becomes Atletico's all time top goalscorer with 174 goals in 7 seasons

Good article on the BBC today about how lauded he is in Spain, and was considered the best player in La Liga in 2023, but rarely gets the credit here, or in other leagues. I did also mention recently how I listened to a French journalist says he is considered by most in france to be the 3rd best player to ever play for their national team, behind Platini & Zidane.

basically people not in Spain or France assume he is a centre forward, but he isn't. He is an incredibly hard working player who covers a lot of the pitch and is clever enough to always be on the lookout for gaps appearing in his own team, and he fills them in to help, almost anywhere on the pitch. Then when that isn't happening he scores quite a few goals too

Most points ever in a 38 game 3points for a win season in Turkey is 90.

Fenerbahce reached the halfway point in the season last night and are on 50 points. Galatasaray play this afternoon, and a win for them will see them also on 50 points at the halfway point in the season

they drew with each other over christmas time, and they play each other again in the penultimate league game of the season

Relatedly, Eredivisie is back under way this weekend after the winter break - PSV host Excelsior, and a win will give them 100% record after 17 games and at the halfway point of their season. A victory will also see them equal their own record of 17 wins from the start of the season, set in 1987/88.

Currently unbeaten in 32 league games, since a bizarre defeat at now relegated FC Emmen, last January.

Galatasaray just conceded a late equaliser!

Game ending any moment. Finally the top 2 will not be on the same points?!

The Franchise emigration good luck vibes remain in place for our boys Cartagena as they have now won 3 of the last 5 down the bottom of Segunda

After a disastrous season so far they are now just 5 points from safety

17 wins in a row for PSV, who are 12 clear at the halfway stage in Eredivisie.

Kane's last minute goal for Bayern on Friday night takes him to 22 in 16 league games, which is a record. Lewandowski the only other player to score 22 in the first half of a Bundesliga season, so Kane has one more match in which the better that.

Spain's Segunda Division is tightening up. With the exception of Racing Ferrol in second, none of the top five have won more than once in their last five matches. Leganes four points clear at the top still, but after that just seven points separate Ferrol from Tenerife in 12th.

Fun fact - none of the current Andorra squad plays for Segunda Division's FC Andorra, which is the only Andorran club to have been granted entry to the Spanish league system.

He is someone I'd love to see over in the Premier League, he'd probably be happier too. I think he'd get a lot of love and appreciation here from the majority of supporters rather than racism on a weekly basis.

Wishful thinking on my part I think. I reckon he will be at Madrid for life.

will be interesting to see the knock on effect of Mbappe being there (if he goes, which I think everyone assumes is happening)

Mbappe plays out wide left and has thrown tantrums in the past at being asked to play elsewhere. If you bring him in and play him there then what happens with Vinicius? Mbappe is incredible, but feels harsh to push Vinicius out to another position to accommodate him. Even heard a journo say a while back they could look to sell Vinicius if Mbappe joins, as his stock is so high and RM don't have the money to spend that they used to have (or at least need to try and balance the books more these days anyway)

What were your big ideas to get included on this panel?

Or were there only 30 people who applied? etc...

I told them how I built STAR from the ground up, and I think they just assumed because I'm English I know what I'm talking about. They're in for a shock.
