Nicky Forster

Just to say he's got 5 goals in his last four goals for Brighton and he's just turned 36.

You can watch the last three on the BBC website.

Good on you Nicky!

Still only averaged about 6 goals a season for us in his time here. Ball greedy and very over rated as a 'striker'. (1999 - 2006, 186 apps, 59 goals) But what I'd give to have a player like him here now!

8.42 goals a season.

Oh and Sammy Igoe also got two goals today.

Another brilliant player who was slagged off constantly on here for being "too greedy" by the masses who think a div2/1 club should have their pick of the world's best.

Agreed. Terrific player. What Deathy fails to allow for in his goals per season stats are the injuries that kept Fozzy out of the side for long periods at a time.

A quick check on soccerbase reveals 538 career starts and 206 goals. So no idea where you're going with the inverted comma 'striker' thing. Most forwards would be pleased with that kind of ratio.

And 67 goals in 6 years with Reading, so that's almost double your '6 goals a season' claim (and he was injured for almost all of 00/01).

Quite possibly the best player I've ever seen as a "lone striker" - pretty poor when playing alongside another, though.

My Brighton fan mate hasn't got a bad word to say about him.

Their best player by a country mile. No surprise they've turned round their bad start with him starting scoring again.

Agreed - Brighton fans I know love him - he's always got time for autographs, for chatting to the fans and for doing community/kids stuff etc.

The kind of player that would get into a Reading Hall of Fame if there was one.

Agreed.

In 2002/03 he carried the whole team. and i mean carried. totally unplayable at times. How anyone who uses the word 'overated' about such a player is just impaired.

Indeed. Without Fozzy that team was dead in the water. In the play-off semi-final Wolves were terrified of him. When he went off injured everything changed.

I remember the match at home vs Ipswich that same year - one of our few wins against them - when he got a hat trick.

The third goal was absolutely sublime - certainly one of the best goals I've ever seen. There was a quick break and he was just outside the corner of the Ipswich penalty area when he shot. I was right in line behind the ball when he shot, and I could see he'd hit if wide and it was missing the far post - but once it was past the keeper it swung in the air and curved in off the far post. An absolutely incredible bit of skill and if someone like Ronaldo had done it the pundits would be raving about it.

An oft-raved about performance was his one at Wigan in December 2003. He was quite literally unplayable that day.

The Preston hat-trick was pretty good as well....he was able to be subbed with plenty of time left as well.

The fact he's continued until such an old age shows that he loves the game.

Possibly the most explosive player we've ever had, I loved watching him play.
