Barca always seem to be involved in long, drawn out and boring transfer sagas.

Falcau to Monaco €55m

They're gonna have one seriously good team next season

Baffled by this. City would have paid him a very similar amount, for a chance to play for a better team in a better league, in the Champions League.

Ideal Manchester: dreary, rainfilled shithole, women are fat and ugly, cars drive on wrong side of the road, TAXES
Monaco: upbeat playpen of the rich and famous, nice weather, women are all supermodels, cars drive on correct side of road, DON'T HAVE TO PAY ANY TAXES

His choice is truely mindboggling!

I was very close to biting there.

Falcao has little choice where he goes due the 3rd party owner of him owning the controlling stake. Doyen Sports (Peter Kenyon & Jorge Mendes company) bought 55% of Falcao when he joined Porto, Porto sold another 5% of him during his time there (as confirmed on their year end financials after they sold him), and there was confirmation in there that someone else had the right to buy another 10% of him. If that person took up their right to buy in the last 3 years then Atletico Madrid owned a maximum 30% of Falcao, maybe less if they sold more of their share.

The 3rd party owners have been heavily supplementing his wages since he joined Porto but get a % of his image rights and sponsorship money.

Doyen Sports also owned Hulk hence why he went to Zenit for maximum return to investors.

If this sounds messy then try and get your head around Neymar. At Santos his wages were paid by the club plus 11 different companies that all had a piece. Spanish media today giving a breakdown of what they at least claim is the real transfer fee that Barca paid for him and put the total at €74M with the main beneficiaries being Santos, DIS Group, DEISA Group & Neymar's father as his majority owners, then a bunch of other smaller investors who don't own him but have weird contracts with him/Santos that need buying out.

No More than -
Real Madrid when they brought Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema in one summer
Chelsea when Roman took over (Crespo, Mutu, Veron, Duff etc)
Chelsea at the start of the Mourinho era (Carvalho, Paulo Ferriera, Drogba, Cech, Robben, Tiago)
Juventus in 2001 (Buffon, Nedved, Thuram, Salas)

True but they're doing the Man City approach and seem to be buying a whole new squad

If they can get a good manager to get all those money-chasing players to work together then they'll be one bloody good team next season. If not, those players will slowly lose their 'big-name' statuses.
