Ten Hag was never a hipster manager!

Nagelsman feels like the ultimate hipster manager and look where it got him

of course he was, got Ajax to CL semi-final

by hipster manager, I mean people who reckon they know 'proper football' rate him highly, much like Alonso now,

Alonso got Real Sociedad B promoted to the Segunda in his second season via play-offs but they got relegated the season after

Took over B.Lev when they were second from the bottom and got them to sixth last year and a Europa semi. They had finished third the season before so were a decent side that wasn't firing (think Aston Villa under Gerrard). Currently topping the Bundesliga.

Yeah, if he is given a budget and control to just concentrate on winning the league...he's your man!

Talksport had their Saudi footbal person on talking about Henderson leaving. He said its affordable for the Saudi club because they say the transfer that Liverpool claimed was £12M was actually only £4M, Henderson is paying the club to get himself out of his contract and there is also an add on bonus for the club where Henderson himself will have to make another payment to them if a certain performance goal is hit at Ajax

That last bit seems odd. How is JH going to feel when he knows a win for the club to get them in the CL, or next appearance for him, is going to personally cost him X amount of money?!

interesting listening to Darragh MacAnthony this morning on a podcast talking about transfers. I personally never realised just how far back sell on clauses went. I think its quite openly spoken about that the previous 2 clubs will often benefit from add on fee's, but he said if Ivan Toney is sold by Brentford, then Northampton would be due a nice add on fee, even though by that point he will be at his 4th club past playing for them

Said its now very normal that all deals agreed just have an 'we will take x percentage of whatever you earn from this player moving in the future' clause in, so when someone does move, there can be quite a number of clubs all splitting that sell on fee between them

Said Peterborough have an agreement to give Newcastle 30% of any income related to Ivan Toney transfers that they receive, and he knows Northampton have a similar agreement in place with Newcastle. Reckons Northampton have already earned a sum into 7 figures for Ivan Toney and would be due more if Brentford sell him on

Rumours of Almiron joining the Saudi League. I am sure it wouldn't be for an inflated transfer fee to help Newcastle's balance sheet though....

Agreed, can see that being made permanent. Probably should've been the move he made, rather than going to City - obviously not considering the money and trophy side of things.

My favourite sell on clause tale. My uncle was visiting and we were watching the sports new on tv when it was announced that Chelsea had signed Kerry Dixon. Uncle Stan leapt out of his chair and did a little jig and when questioned he advised that Dunstable Town had a sell on clause inserted when they sold Dixon to Reading. Not a huge amount but, in his words "enough to resurface the car park". (He was a director at Dunstable.)
