I posted about Lukaku on another thread, about wasting young talent. This guy was scoring better than a goal every two games for Anderlecht, playing and scoring in the Champions League, and starring for Belgium at 17 years old. The player isn’t blameless of course, he and his agent have chased the dough and got it, but now one of Europe’s most promising young strikers is languishing in Chelsea’s reserve teams, whilst, for example, one of Belgium’s other promising players Eden Hazard have stayed put and played nearly four full seasons for Lille before (it seems today) moving on.

The Tevez for Carroll rumour is still going strong. It would of course be a no-brainer for Liverpool, from a footballing perspective, and I can’t see City or Mancini want Tevez at the club enough to push for a much bigger deal. But that ignores the fact that a) in footballing terms it’s an awful deal for City, b) even if the terms were better, Carroll doesn’t add anything to City, and c) any club, Liverpool included, who sign Tevez, obviously has a screw loose.
