They've had a long time to wait for it, but that is going to be an impressive stadium when it's finished.

Brings back all the excitment of driving over to see the Madstad at weekends to see how it was coming along.

Did I read it on here or was it a discussion with a friend that Brighton have been criticising stadia like St Marys and Madejski? Apparently stadia like the Mad stad have been failing disabled supporters - something that Falmer will combat with suitable facilities for the lesser-abled followers.

Don't know that they've been criticising, but they're right.

well at least it isn't yet another typical bowl design and actually has a personality about it. what's the capacity going to be? they can knock our disabled facilities all they like, theirs have to be better because they have a lot more retards to accomodate than we do.

anyway capacity is around 28,000

what's wrong with our disabled facilities? I don't know how these things are done is all. Brighton's ground is built into a hillside, disabled supporters travelling by train have half a mountain to get up to get to the ground

havoc

It's not recommended to have wheelchair accommodation in behind a row of seats, because if anyone in those seats stands then those in wheelchairs can't see -ideally 2 rows need to be taken out or the wheelchair area raised by about 4 feet.

Also little things like having a gravel, unsurfaced disabled car park.

Traditionally Brighton are a bigger club than Reading.

OK cheers, those things make sense. I take it all new grounds have wheelchair access bang on ground level?

Not necessarily - they just don't have seats so close in front of wheelchair areas.

A shockingly low number of football grounds (<10%) are fully DDA-compliant.

But is it worth it after all less than 1% of supporters are disabled so applying the 80/20 rule then they're lucky to have anything.

Are you sure it's as low as 1%? I'd say it's far higher than that!

Perhaps 1% is just the number who can actually come to matches because the facilities are so crap.
