- Got to this walk and Bus – dodged the downpours – game was a bit non-descript – very comfortable win against limited opposition.
- probably disappointing sized crowd for the hard-working club officials I’d be surprised if it made three figures.
- Pick of the goals the 3rd Parker racing clear rounding last defender and rolling the ball across for an easy tap-in – when he might have had a shot himself.
- ‘City’ away to SSM-P Broadfields in Preliminary Round – I think they have upped sticks from lodging at Harefield and moved in with Rayners Lane.

-
Roman Glass St.George 2-1 Holmer Green

A.F.C. Varndeanians 1-2 Farnham Town
Badshot Lea
3-3 East Preston
Jersey Bulls {TEN} 10-1 Horsham Y.M.C.A. – Bulls ran in half a doz. goals in the last 15’ when YMCA were reduced to 9 men – included a straight red for the keeper on 72’ and an enforced withdrawal – visitors had used up their available subs with a run of injuries before H/T.

Tuffley 3-2 Windsor on Sunday. (Played at Stag Meadow.)

Windsor should probably have been out of sight at HT having played well, but seemed to run out of puff when Tuffley turned up the intensity in the 2nd half.

Still, having played pretty well and with all 3 of our recognised CDs unavailable it was a promising performance so I'm feeling a little more optimistic about the season ahead. i.e. we should be good enough to avoid relegation! Early days of course!!

Tonight we are at home v Reading City.

Windsor 4-3 Reading City

Excellent game of football, best I’ve seen from Windsor for a long while. Sharp interplay, with players looking comfortable on the ball and receiving it in tight spaces. In recent times nobody looked comfortable receiving the ball if an opposition player was within 5 yards of them so that was refreshing!

Debut hat trick for Lindell Stewart who is (probably) 20. He was at Harefield Utd last season and in Hanwell’s youth team previously.

Charlie Losasso scored the other from a cheeky free kick bent around the wall to the near post.

Somebody was telling me that Reading City started off selling their season tickets for £220!! Well, trying to anyway. After a backlash they brought it down to just over £100, but now down to £85.

£220 for Step 9 football? WTF were they thinking?!!

My ST at Windsor was FOC, as was last year’s. Last season it was done as Thank You to all STHs for the support in the curtailed season 2019/20, then as 2020/21 was curtailed again the club repeated the gesture.

Mind you, they’ve whacked the price of a beer up to £4.50 which hasn’t gone down well with some!

..... I wended my way over to Stag Meadow on Sun PM for the Cup game

...was a bit puzzling as Windsor bossed the 1st half but folded as soon as Tuffley showed a bit of aggression which surprised me somewhat.
Mate shifted into severe miserable git mode on discovering it was a card-only ground.

Nice to chat briefly to a couple of board stalwarts in the bar

Home support staff reportedly not given enough warning of the switch to a 'home' fixture (Rovers still sorting out the or drainage at GlevumPk ) to proved full catering and there was no draught bitter.

Not sure why they couldn't have at least despatched someone down the road to buy a handful of onions for the burgers though - no Bacon on offer either and the Gourmet Burgers were a no show....... .?

RE Reading City FC STs - I'm fairly sure they badly miscalculated setting their price, against how many fixtures they'd actually have at Scours ....
-reading a few club statements it appeared they completely forgot that half of them will be played away - so adrift were they in their reckoning! :D

Hope to get a MW round up later and a preview of this w/e when most of the upper reaches of the Pyramid will commence their campaign.

Very surprising to see Ascot lose 5-0 to Southall, who lost 6-3 on Tuesday at North Greenford, who lost 2-1 to Holyport today....

Anyway, another good performance from Windsor today, beating Wembley 2-1, despite a number of injuries and absences, which necessitated one player coming out of retirement, and 2 CDs both coming back despite being a couple of weeks away from fitness. (Unfortunately one got crocked again so that may have backfired somewhat.)

Still 6 points from 2 games and playing good football (Charlie Losasso the lynchpin) is beyond anyone’s expectations from a couple of weeks ago.

Re FOC’s comment earlier....

Today's match at East Cowes Vicoria has been officially abandoned after 96 minutes as Andover Town's Jordan Smith was stricken with 'Heat Stroke'

The referee officially abandoned the match. The match finished at 3-3

Obviously we will have to wait until the league decides on the official outcome of the match ??

In the meantime we wish Jordan all the very best in his recovery !!

.... his [Elliott Whitehouse] former clubs include Henley Town, Hartley Wintney, Reading Town Woodley United, Hungerford Town, and Burnham. At youth level he also played for Reading, Wycombe Wanderers, and Crystal Palace. He has also coached Reading FC Women and its Community Trust.

Burnham 3-0 Egham Town
CB Hounslow United
1-4 Windsor CBH reduced to 10 men early 2nd half and down to 9 later on - suggestions from some present stating the ref's performance was abject - and certainly upset the home bench. Windsor share top spot early on with other 3 from 3 100%-ers Abbey Rangers and Southall who have played two games more

Hanworth Villa 3-3 Edgware Town
Reading City Ab. Holyport – bad player injury (visiting Matt Ensby ) described as a 'horror challenge' but no foul awarded (head injury too) - City 2-0 up at the time c. 25’

Southall 4-0 Wembley - Southall have loan-signed two players from clubs higher up the pyramid (Boreham Wd & H&Y) and seem to have blossomed - with a 5-0 win over Ascot at the weekend and now this 4-0 - though the visitors were described, by a hopper in attendance, as poor.
- Discussions are said to be 'under way' with Ealing Council regarding development of a facility closer to their own Borough, in this their 150th year (co-incidentally! :) )

Tadley Calleva 1-5 Ascot United - Tadley down with Wembley and 'Wokkers' on nil points to date

J13-14 closed this weekend, not J12-13.

(Not that it makes a big difference!)

Windsor 1-4 Edgeware

Well beaten by a very impressive team. Intercepted all our through balls, read the game well, fast and strong without ever being dirty, excellent out wide (both wingers and overlapping full backs) and got shots off in tight situations where most teams wouldn’t and almost always on target.

Oh well, we won’t be playing them every week.

...must admit I was a tad surprised at that result - not least the margin bearing how well Windsor had done to date (other than Tuffley) but then looked at Edgware's form and it wasn't as shabby as I first thought it had been.
I must've confused them with one the other SSM sides joining the northern bit of the CCL - presumably Wembley as St Panteleimon and NGU have also both started quite well.

- got here just - was a 13:00 start –– M4 jn 8/9 was completely jammed for no particular reason other than the great British Public can’t filter into a diversion in turn in a civil manner – so a journey that was described as being taken ‘in light traffic conditions’ took 90 mins instead of 50
– Handy Cross was being ‘@rsey’ too – missed about ¼ hr.
- mood not improved by the discovery that the ‘Ducks’ hadn’t sorted out any food at their lodgings either - and I’d missed breakfast to go shopping first – was looking forward to a bacon burger …
- match prog now on-line but some dedicated soul who does the Podcasty thing for them with a fancy camera gubbins, had also produced a commemorative Guide for the 21-22 season for the club – which was worth tracking down. Had a brief chat about their nomadic status but decided I ought let him carry on setting up for the 2nd half.
- I had thought B&T might put a half decent fight, having seen them trouble Highworth a month or so ago (albeit in a friendly) but the Ducks just swept them away with goals at regular intervals.
- I suspect the visitors might have had a few key absences, which seems a prevalent condition at this time of year.

The edgeware manager rak hudson used to manager me and my uni team at the same time as Haringey Borough. He was a very very good player.

I went to the Basingstoke game - excellent attendance and a sense that the club is really moving in the right direction. Keep up with these performances and wins and the attendance will only grow.

Totton strong in the first half but Basingstoke alot better in the second half and were not really troubled. Quite a feisty affair. All 3 penalties were penalties from what i could tell and little argument.

Hope they get a decent home draw with a chance to progress. Need to carry this form into the league and stay around the top.

love it for Basingstoke to have a dream draw all the way through and then end up playing Sunderland at home. For Basingstoke's story to be heard and then Sunderland to play on the 4G multi line pitch will be a joy.

Results from our 'local' sides Cup replays tonight (Tue) :

FA Cup Preliminary Replays
Ardley Utd 3-1 RWBT - plum tie for United away at their big 'neighbours' from just up the M40 - Banbury Utd
Ascot United 3-2 Risborough Rangers – 2 down at HT ‘Yellamen’ roar back for a win in stoppage time to progress to 1st Qualifying Round away at Hythe Town.
Burnham 1-4 Northwood att 234
- Was at this – ‘Blues’ made a very bright start but fell away under some quality forward play particularly when breaking out from midfield. Veteran Striker and now asst manager Manny Williams notched Blues consolation late on here at the renamed ‘1878 Stadium’ (nice shiny new 3G surface too – no more impenetrable bogs at The Gore which on occasions used to make Scours Lane look like a Bowling Green by comparison!)

Flackwell Heath 6-0 Tuffley Rovers att 139 – Simeon Weekes hat-trick 5-0 by the break – ‘Heathens’ off to W-S-M in the next round
Knaphill 1-1 Ashford Town (Mx) att 215 – 1-2 aet
Alton 3-0 Bradford Town att 316 – ‘The Brewers’ face Sholing in the next round
Westfield 1-3 Hythe Town
Reading City 1-3 Broadfields – contest over by HT as the visitors led 0-3 – ‘Cityzens’ score on 89’ – and that was a calamitous own goal apparently.
