London Sunday cup final being played at afc Wimbledon stadium

For a Sunday league game that's crazy

Got my tickets already, SE Dons vs Baiteze/Mehmetik Gala (they're in the Barnet league I found out)

The Tilehurst Charity Shield (Reading Sunday League cup competition) was played at the Madstad on many occasions. Not sure about now as don't follow local football as much.

... and will still be staged there (SCL) this season as far as I am aware - often on a Fri evening mid-May I think : the 2nd S-F is due tomorrow at Scours La Ko 11:00 BAPCO v 116 Exiles - winners to play GC Utd
Actually got mentioned a couple of pages above, amidst my usual torrent of drivel!

The Senior Sat Final (Berks Trophy Centre) is usually there too also sometime in May but I've not kept up to date as to whose progressed there.
- most likely Finch or Westwood/someone else from the Thames Valley League - will have a dig about....

UPDATE : At the S-F stage here too - both scheduled for Rivermoor in May:
01/05 19:30 Burghfield v Reading YMCA
08/05 19:30 Finchampstead v Maidenhead Town

...sadly they've not yet revived the Reading Senior Invitation Challenge Cup - post-Vids.
That involved NL sides from the area at STEP4 5 & 6 and also had it's showcase Final at the MadStad as was.

Went to the Basingstoke Town game today, Paul Hodges for Basingstoke scores from 90 yards! Yep, that’s right, 90 yards. Off one post, hit the other and spun in. Sight to behold and he meant it. Hope there will be a video doing the rounds soon.

Had a visit to Wimborne’s new ground in their top of the table clash with Frome. Fantastic facilities grass pitch with an adjacent 3G pitch for training. Good youth set up to academy level. Large modern clubhouse. Attendance of 2307. Tight game finished 1-1.

rabidbee Ooh, Bracknell now only outside the playoffs on GD. COYR

Unlikely to dislodge Merthyr though as the Welsh have a game in hand, to go along with their vastly superior GD, and next week Bracknell have to take their less than spectacular away record to play the champions Chesham.

Merthyr lost their game in hand last night 8)

And Bracknell get the win at Chesham whilst Merthyr lose, leaving Bracknell in the playoffs and 3 points clear with one game to go 8)

92' winner for 'Robins' from Espirit - att 1,556
Bracknell's final game is next Sat H vs relegation-threatened Hayes & Yeading.
Merthyr are hosting already relegated Harrow Borough.

- Binfield picked up a point from high-flying RPV
- I stayed local and watched Wokingham & Emmbrook grab an unexpected but fully-deserved point from PO certs Bedfont Sports.
They do (hopefully only temporarily) slip back to last place, as Chalfont St Peter got a surprise maximum at Virginia Water this PM.
'Sumas' have 4 games to play [Tue/Thu/Sat/Mon]
- CStP's only remaining fixture is next Sat. vs title chasing Flackwell Heath who won again today in front of over 600 @ Wilkes Pk.
The 'Heathens' stay 4 points above Rayners Lane - both sides have 2 games left.

...much more in the Review to follow sometime tomorrow....

Bracknell don't have too smart a record against Hayes. Only got 1 point off them last season when they were runners-up to Weston and this year they've already lost to them once. Currently lost 2 of the last 2 played so all is possibly not over yet even though they just need 1 point to get a game at Salisbury, Totton or Gosport.

NAT-N
Banbury United 0-3 Tamworth
Blyth Spartans 1-5 Brackley Town – ‘Saints’ finish 3rd
NAT-S
Slough Town 1-1 Welling United
Weymouth 1-2 Farnborough – boro miss POs by a point

SLP-C
AFC Sudbury {SEVEN} 7-1 Long Eaton United
Halesowen Town 4-3 St Ives Town
Leiston 1-1 Leamington
Needham Market 0-2 Mickleover
Stamford 2-0 Hitchin Town

Harrow Borough 1-2 Tiverton Town – ‘Tivvy’ secure their place in the division with a 97’ winner
Hayes & Yeading United 0-2 Salisbury
Hendon 0-0 Gosport Borough
Plymouth Parkway 2-2 Walton & Hersham
Poole Town 2-0 Didcot Town
Sholing 3-0 Swindon Supermarine
Winchester City 1-0 Beaconsfield Town – ‘Rams’ might be in peril but equally the remaining fixtures could yet play out their way
– they’ll need to avoid defeat at home to Parkway on the final day & hope Hayes & Y don’t win both their games (away vs Parkway and Bracknell)

SL1-C
Biggleswade 1-1 Kidlington
North Leigh 0-4 Biggleswade Town
Thame United 3-0 Kings Langley
Welwyn Garden City 3-3 Aylesbury United
- may have got my sums wrong here? Apparently TWO do still go down from this 19 team division
- I’d assumed it would only be one - so Thame could still be up against it in spite of their big win this PM.
Believe they might head the list of possible reprieves on PPG though, with a few resignations mid-season from above them in the pyramid (e.g. Nuneaton)

IL1-SC
Ascot United 0-2 Metropolitan Police
Ashford Town (Middx) 0-2 Westfield
Binfield 0-0 Raynes Park Vale
Chipstead 0-3 Thatcham Town
Corinthian-Casuals 4-2 Uxbridge
Hanworth Villa 2-1 Leatherhead
Hartley Wintney 0-3 Southall
South Park (Reigate) 1-2 Marlow – ‘Blues’ almost certainly confirm a 2nd place finish with a goal from Ndozid on 96’
– they are three pts above Leatherhead – both clubs have one game left but Marlow are 19 goals better off.
Southall are three pts further back with identical GD to the Tanners - so might conceivably pinch 3rd if they beat strugglers Chipstead and Leatherhead lose at home to Hartley W.
Final PO spot is between Westfield (host Northwood on Tue and relegated Cor-Cas on the 27th) and RPV who sit 2 pts behind - have Guernsey to host next Sat

Sutton Common Rovers 0-2 Chertsey Town
Sun 14:00 Guernsey v Northwood

CCL-PN
Flackwell Heath 3-1 Edgware & Kingsbury – att 614
Holyport 3-1 Wembley

Farnham Town 2-0 Colliers Wood United – att 902
Horley Town 1-2 Alton
Jersey Bulls 5-1 Fleet Town – att 685
Knaphill 5-0 Redhill
Sandhurst Town 4-0 Tooting & Mitcham United
Sheerwater 3-2 Cobham
Tadley Calleva 2-0 Guildford City

CCL-1
(Fri)Rising Ballers Kensington 3-0 Windsor
British Airways 3-1 Yateley United
Eversley & California
5-3 Oxhey Jets
FC Deportivo Galicia 1-0 Holmer Green
Hillingdon Borough 3-2 Brook House
London Colney 3-4 Berks County
Molesey 1-4 Amersham Town
Penn & Tylers Green
1-2 Spartans Youth
Westside 2-2 Woodley United

WESS-P
Petersfield Town 1-1 Cowes Sports
Shaftesbury 4-5 Andover New Street - great win for ‘Street’ at the 3rd placed side - with a stoppage time penalty.
-and of course this is in the division that regularly racks up huge aggregate scores.
This PM saw 51 goals across 9 games – TWO 5-4s, a 7-0 and a 4-3

WESS-1
AFC Aldermaston 2-0 Totton & Eling – ‘Atom Men’ off the bottom - been hearing some rumours that they'll be back at AWE next season - whatever league that may be - conceivably the Hants Premier or TVL?

Alresford Town {EIGHT} 8-0 Frimley Green
Ash United
1-1 Ringwood Town
Folland Sports 6-1 Andover Town
Millbrook 1-0 Cove – visitors PO hopes recede somewhat – they do have 3 fixtures left but trail 5th placed E.Cowes by 3 pts and have a vastly inferior GD
Verwood Town 0-3 Whitchurch United
- Champions Hamworthy Recreation, who went unbeaten for so long, have now lost three in a row, all this week!

TVL-P
Finchampstead 0-1 Windsor & Eton … W&E up to 3rd but Westwood won 4-0 away at AFC Winkfield to secure the title

Statement from the National league states Gateshead will not be allowed to partake in the play-offs- Solihull Moors take their place.
It’s all about rules from the EFL regarding security of tenure in their stadium.

Solihull Moors were already in the play offs though weren't they?

I was hoping this would mean Aldershot were in

Really harsh on Altrincham who finished above Solihull Moors and are rewarded by having to play an extra play off game than them

Seems a bit unfair really! Why not just replace Gateshead with Aldershite? Hoping Altrincham can finally jam their way into the league, though no doubt it'll bee Borenet.

I think this has been implemented subsequently e.g. Alty get the bye to the semis -presumably means Solihull now play Halifax in the 'eliminator' round?

I wasn't aware the NL Chairperson is also the Chair at Aldersh!te ! :? (Shahid Azeem)......

.... doubt that the Sh!ts fans are too chuffed that he 'played it straight' but any hint of influencing or favouritism would have been seriously landed on by all and sundry - whatever the actual regs were? 8)

Seen some questioning how FC Halifax haven't fallen foul of the same thing Gateshead were hit with.

PS pleased I didn't pre-empt all this by trying to lay out possible STEP01/02 PO line-ups - think I'll sit on my hands for a few days :P

PPS Vanarama Site have published the PO schedule now:

Wed 24/04 19:00 Solihull Moors v FC Halifax
Winners go to Barnet Sat 27th April 17:30 KO
Other Semi-Final:
Sun 28th April 16:00 Bromley v Altrincham

Final Wembley Sun May 5th 15:00

In the Northern Section Brackley's Home S-F tie is this Sun (28th) 15:00 v Chorley/Curzon Ashton

The day before sees Scunthorpe host either Alfreton or Boston at 15:00

Promotion Final will on Sat 4th May 15:30 KO at the Finalist with the highest placed finish

.... not seen the Southern line-up yet ....will post up in due course.....

Yeah, the rules state that if a club that finishes in a play-off spot doesn't qualify for promotion, then they can't compete in the play-offs and don't get replaced. It doesn't say why, maybe they don't want the possibility of clubs finishing 8th or lower to win promotion?

I'm going to hazard a guess that Halifax are OK because even though their ground is owned by the council, they have the guaranteed 10 year tenancy required that Gateshead didn't.
