Royals and Racers Torquay docked 10 points for going into administration.

Drops them to 17th in the table so perhaps a wise move to take the hit when they weren't really going to be going up and, so long as their form doesn't drop off, they should be safe from the anguishes at the other end of the table.

Bit of a worrying time in that division as both Taunton and Truro are hitting hard times as well as the miserable weather down there has screwed over their home games and their cashflow.

Sutekh ...... both Taunton and Truro are hitting hard times as well as the miserable weather down there has screwed over their home games and their cashflow.

....after passing Inspection tonight's NLS fixture Taunton vs W-s-M has now been postponed.

... and much closer to home, Reading City's upbeat twiXing today (Thu) has been to no avail - as this afternoon's downpours washed out their hopes to stage their first home match (vs Egham) for 10 WEEKS !! :(

I was just about to leave for it when I checked too. :|

I am looking forward to meeting with supporters this evening, which will take place in Stripes following the men’s first team open training session at York Road. The open training session will start at 7pm, with the supporter meeting commencing afterwards about 8pm.

Clearly 2023 was an extremely disappointing year for the club, with the new Liberal Democrat and Borough First administration reneging on the Council’s commitment to enable the delivery of our community stadium proposals at Braywick. This decision has deprived the town and its community of much needed additional football and wider community sport facilities whilst detrimentally impacting the growth and development of the football club and all we do in the community.

We have had no contact from Council officers or members since this decision was made however, despite our frustration, we remain open for engagement with them about potential next steps given the need for new and improved football facilities in the town has not gone away. We still need improved stadium facilities which can be used 7 days a week; we still need additional astroturf, playing pitch and futsal facilities; and we still need to raise a significant amount of capital funding to enable us to meet these requirements.

Our priority in the short term must be to focus on the future and finding solutions to these challenges, so we have decided not to pursue further legal action against the Council. Whilst it is clear the Council failed to meet their contractual obligations to the club and their decision-making process was flawed, it would not be prudent to commit to a lengthy and expensive legal action which, if unsuccessful, could risk our financial future. Even if we had successfully challenged the decision, the simple truth is that Council and the vocal minority would simply have continued to block our plans through the planning process.

A ground move remains the most suitable/sensible option for the club because the sale of York Road is the most realistic way of both realising the significant capital funding required to deliver the new and improved facilities the club requires, whilst maintaining the community benefit ownership model of the club’s ground and facilities. We will continue to explore the potential for a ground move however we are realistic and recognise this is unlikely to be achievable within the short term, given we remain committed to keeping our stadium in Maidenhead and that Braywick is the only suitable site in Maidenhead we have identified for a relocation.

We also have immediate challenges which must now be addressed. We can no longer ignore the requirement to spend money at York Road given our safety certificate and ground grading could be at risk if we do not deliver improvements to the terracing and barriers thoughout the ground, to our clubhouse and changing facilities, as well as our disabled facilities. We also have to maintain a focus on improving the financial sustainability of the club and delivering the additional facilities we need to enable our ongoing development and growth.
With this in mind we are currently:

Developing plans for the improvement of the stadium facilities at York Road, which can only be delivered if we secure external grant funding through the Football Foundation and other sources.
Extending the range of services and activities delivered through our community coaching offer.
Adding to our football provision by launching the Maidenhead United FC Performance Programme offering new opportunities for junior footballers to participate in a selective training/playing programme, with club teams playing in the Junior Premier League.
Exploring the potential for delivering a new club training venue/hub outside of Maidenhead Town Centre, which will be dependant upon identifying a site locally where we can be confident planning can be achieved to build floodlit astro turfs and associated facilities.

Please be certain my family’s commitment and ambition for the continued success, growth and development of Maidenhead United FC both on and off the field remains undiminished. We will continue to work hard to keep the club moving forward and are grateful for the continued trust, loyalty and commitment of our supporters and all others engaged with the club.

Peter Griffin
Chairman

Fa sunday cup semi finals today

Trooper_ VS AFC Hackleton at Northampton Town FC

Home Bargains VS Highgate Albion at Kidderminster Harriers

Imo favourite to win the lot Is probably Home Bargains just because the teams from the Mersey Business League in Liverpool always do well and take this competition very very seriously

Afc Highgate are very very very good though, watched a bunch of their games. Used to be in the Barnet league and that Is known as one of the countries best (behind the Merseyside one) and they pretty much cleaned out the whole London cup competitions for the past 3 years

They made the final 2 years ago but lost to baiteze, who are the team that Hackleton beat in a massive shock

I don't know about the first 2 teams, Trooper is from Birmingham and top and Troy deeneys brother is the captain

Hackleton seem to be made up of alot of afc Rushden and diamond players

Both are top of their leagues though and from YouTube videos are very good football teams

Four Of Clubs .

One thing I was meant to ask

With the rise in quality with all these sunday league teams, how is it that players from as high as conference South and North are allowed to play for them? Don't they have some rules around this?

Take the above 4 teams and they are almost made up of step 3 and 4 and 5

Four Of Clubs Saturday 23rd March

NAT
AFC Fylde 2-1 Oxford City
Aldershot Town 1-1 Solihull Moors
Barnet 6-0 Dorking Wanderers
Eastleigh 1-1 Hartlepool United
Rochdale 1-0 Maidenhead United – Magpies fall closer to the drop-zone with York surprise winners at Bromley

Boreham Wood are, surprisingly, after previous seasons, struggling badly and sat in the "final" relegation spot. Maidenhead now in final "safe" spot in the division as their form continues to switch between its regular cycles of formidable to excrement. Why oh why can't Maidenhead just have a boring season that just sees them safe in mid table throughout. Their Easter games are Aldershite followed by a trip to struggling Eastleigh so hopefully can pick something up before the visits of Hartlepool and Barnet.

Yeovil have got the NLS pretty much sown up with only Chelmesford having an outside chance of catching them. Slough safe in 12th and not really going anywhere as usual.

Down in the Southern League South Premier looks like Chesham have won the division with Salisbury, Totton and Gosport nailed on for the playoffs while Merthyr, Walton, Bracknell and Hungerford chase the final PO place.
