Totton and Eling ridiculous schedule in the Wessex League continued last night where they are having to play 12 matches in 26 days. Last night they were playing East Cowes Vics, they could only field 9 players where 3 of them were the backroom staff. They lost 6-0.

They are away again on Thursday to Fleetlands, away to Aldermaston on Saturday, and then a run of 4 games in 7 days at home to finish the season off.

Royal Rother Windsor and Eton win promotion after a 5-0 win at Maidenhead Town.

Not wishing to devalue the achievement in anyway RR (there's probably others that may wish to do that  :? ) but they were the only applicants from the TVL-P ....they must satisfy grading by some distance ...... and did only have to ensure they finished top five (of 12)
W&E could still catch Westwood for the title have 3 to play and are 7 pts behind. Leaders WW have a game left plus Wargrave & Finch are in the mix currently 2nd & 3rd

With ongoing computer difficulties I'd rather taken my eyes off the sub-STEP06 leagues, especially for midweek - so missed the game going on at Bisham.

'Silly-Season' as it is tagged on NLM, is well underway now, with loads of lower/county level RFLs (Regional Feeder leagues) and others kicking off early evenings now the clocks have changed.
For those interested, since the weather is improving, there are midweek matches scheduled in the TVL, the East & North Berks Leagues, as well as the Surrey Premier and Intermediate & Oxfordshire Senior - quite a few 'borrowing' higher level facilities too.
Plus the Sunday Leagues have a deal of catching up to do too - so the RDSFL, the Upper Thames Valley & the Thames Valley Sunday leagues are fitting in fixtures as best they can.

There's a Cup Final being staged at Stag Meadow tonight by the way (Wed 17th) B&B Sunday Cup. Often featured on here, local 'galacticos' FC BAPCO, take on a similarly well-backed outfit and runaway leaders of their own league Great Brittan FC.

They are in the High Wycombe Sunday league P21 W20 L1 - scoring 124 goals - so definitely a match for the R&DSFL leaders, who have a doz. wins from their 13 league matches having scored 55.

....may well attend ....though am drawn to the battles at the bottom of both CCL1 & WESS-1.
With the final number of relegation places from STEP06 being a bit 'fluid' there are still some interesting tussles even so and above that the CCL-PN is looking intriguing too.
Reading City's 6-1 thumping of Chalfont may well have 'placed the first few nails in the coffin' and saved Wok & Emm. /Wallingford etc. from the drop. 'Sumas' did win 3-1 at Lowther Rd v Risborough last night, which might have eased their woes.

Hilltop, who were bottom for some time, travel to Burnham tonight in that section and in the WESSEX 1, Aldermaston host Verwood @ Thatcham - the 'Atom Men' striving to overhaul Andover Town beaten 2-4 at Cove.

Will review more midweek action later ...... as it's quite a busy period.

UPDATE...and just as I'm about to depart - still agonising over which match to choose for tonight - I happen to spot that the HELLENIC Premier S-F POs have been hastily arranged for THIS midweek.......

Highworth v RWBT &
Corsham v Cinderford

With ground issues being what they have been, bizarrely Cinderford haven't actually completed their season's fixtures yet. They may have to fulfill their final one AFTER they've been promoted, in the (rather unlikely but not impossible) event they win the Final! :?

I know, crazy isn’t it? Their form has dropped off quite alarmingly in the last month or 2 and some were starting to get concerned as to a whether even a Top 5 finish would be achieved!

I haven’t seen W&E since the autumn. With so few games I found interest waning and got more into my old “hobby” of horse racing. Shame really after rarely missing a home game in the last 14 years (and doing many away as well) but that’s how the cookie has crumbled.

Massive home match for Binfield tomorrow(Thursday) against Northwood. A home win would see them move out of the relegation positions.

rabidbee Ooh, Bracknell now only outside the playoffs on GD. COYR

Unlikely to dislodge Merthyr though as the Welsh have a game in hand, to go along with their vastly superior GD, and next week Bracknell have to take their less than spectacular away record to play the champions Chesham.

Merthyr lost their game in hand last night 8)

Four Of Clubs HELLENIC Premier S-F PO Results

Highworth 0-1 RWBT
Corsham 0-1 Cinderford

Final scheduled for Tue 30th April at Bassett's Gerard Buxton Sports Ground.

Shows me up  - Cinderford finished 19 pts behind Corsham. Play final league game H vs Champions Worcester City Wed 22nd April.

My comments above RE Stag Meadow's grading nearly came back to bite too
- tonight's B&B Sunday Cup Final - high-quality affair, won by BAPCO 2-1 - was held up by their 'old friend', floodlight failure, on about 30 mins. :?

Unlike on previous occasions - they came back on pretty quick - was only about quarter of an hour delay.
The far-side covered terrace is also divided (temporarily) by a safety barrier due to 'Pylon Damage' - oddly enough the banks of lights on the main stand side were the one's playing up tonight.

Already dithering about Thursday night's fixtures now - might nip over to 'Stubbs' for the ongoing IL1-SC 'Moles' survival plan.

In CCL-PN Reading City could dislodge Holyport from 5th & the last PO slot - if they avoid defeat at home to Egham.
Burnham consolidated their PO place with a 2-0 win over Hilltop this eve (Wed).

There's a 'graveyard' battle in CCL-1 up at Holmer Gn vs fellow relegation certs Bagshot - fairly sure they are both down already - notwithstanding any allocation/demotion issues.
I'm sure I've read about a couple of CCL clubs considering withdrawing back to County level.

I'm also tempted by SLP-S Hanwell vs Plymouth Parkway. The home side need a win to escape the bottom four
- 'Diddy' already sunk and Harrow Borough look certain to follow. They are 5 points from safety with only 2 games left: vs Merthyr & fellow strugglers Tiverton.
- Parkway are outside the drop-zone on GD- drew at 2-2 @ Poole on Tue night. PP Have a couple of games in hand on those below them.
HandY, Supermarine and Sholing could still get dragged in.

NL Fixtures Saturday 20th April

- plus a summary of POs etc from STEP04 down - may well do the top 3 next time round when the PO line-ups are clearer.
- they are more 'prolonged' as 6th & 7th get involved at the top two STEPS.

NAT
Altrincham v Oxford City
Chesterfield v Maidenhead United
Dagenham & Redbridge v Aldershot Town
Dorking Wanderers v Hartlepool United
Eastleigh v FC Halifax Town
Oldham Athletic v Wealdstone
Woking v AFC Fylde
NAT-N
Banbury United v Tamworth
Blyth Spartans v Brackley Town
NAT-S
Slough Town v Welling United
Weymouth v Farnborough

SLP-C
AFC Sudbury v Long Eaton United
Halesowen Town v St Ives Town
Leiston v Leamington
Needham Market v Mickleover
Stamford v Hitchin Town
Stourbridge v Royston Town
SLP-S
AFC Totton v Merthyr Town
Basingstoke Town v Dorchester Town
Chesham United v Bracknell Town
Hanwell Town v Hungerford Town
Harrow Borough v Tiverton Town
Hayes & Yeading United v Salisbury
Hendon v Gosport Borough
Plymouth Parkway v Walton & Hersham
Poole Town v Didcot Town
Sholing v Swindon Supermarine
Winchester City v Beaconsfield Town
SL1-C
Biggleswade v Kidlington
North Leigh v Biggleswade Town
Thame United v Kings Langley
Welwyn Garden City v Aylesbury United
- no real end of season dramas at top nor bottom in this division for our 'featured clubs here.
- may possibly be some post-season movements/voluntary demotions
- sadly Nor Lye one time divisional leaders, never recovered from being 'eviscerated' following the grading failure and have plummeted down to mid-table obscurity - 12 straight defeats, many of them big (4s,5s & 6s) since the end of January.
Thame do still need a point for safety from their last 2 games but are 5 points clear of Kempston

IL1-SC
Ascot United v Metropolitan Police
Ashford Town (Middx) v Westfield
Binfield v Raynes Park Vale
Chipstead v Thatcham Town
Corinthian-Casuals v Uxbridge
Hanworth Villa v Leatherhead
Hartley Wintney v Southall
South Park (Reigate) v Marlow
Sutton Common Rovers v Chertsey Town
Chertsey Champions - PO spots more or less settled - with Marlow & Leatherhead (confirmed top 5) , then two from Southall Westfield or Raynes Park Vale
- at the bottom Cor-Cas are relegated after roughly 30 yrs up at STEP03/04 or equivalent.
Binfield's 'Great Escape' is gathering pace - especially should they grab a win tonight (Thu 18th) H v Northwood
- that would see them leap-frog Chipstead and put pressure on Guernsey, Ashford T (Mx) or Met Pol for the possible 2nd drop spot.
- Not fully clear of course - as the division ran a team short for 23-24

CCL-PN
Flackwell Heath v Edgware & Kingsbury - 'Heathens' currently head the table : 3 games left and 4 pts clear of Rayners La.
-Free entry this Saturday - designated a 'Community Day' - spectators asked to wear as much Red as possible!

Holyport v Wembley
North Greenford United v Hilltop
Rayners Lane v Burnham
Reading City
v Ardley United
Risborough Rangers v Broadfields United
Virginia Water v Chalfont St Peter
Wokingham & Emmbrook
v Bedfont Sports
PO places are very strung out here. 2nd placed Rayners La are currently THIRTY-TWO points ahead of Holyport in 5th who have 3 games left. Reading City pose a very real threat to 'port with 6 games remaining, both Broadfields and Ardley have slight outside chances too, should the Scours Lane lads implode.
- Bedfont Sports (definitely) and Burnham (probably) are secure in 3rd/4th

CCL-PS
AFC Croydon Athletic v Spelthorne Sports
Camberley Town v Balham
Epsom & Ewell v Abbey Rangers
Farnham Town v Colliers Wood United
Horley Town v Alton
Jersey Bulls v Fleet Town
Knaphill
v Redhill
Sandhurst Town v Tooting & Mitcham United
Sheerwater v Cobham
Tadley Calleva v Guildford City
- Farnham Champions and as yet still unbeaten - now the only club in the top six levels of the Pyramid - 4 games left 96 pts and 117 goals
- 2nd & 3rd - the 'home advantage' PO spots - are Jersey Bulls and Knaphill
- half a doz. clubs are striving for 4th & 5th: Redhill, AFC Croydon, Abbey Rgrs, Alton, Tadley Calleva & Balham

CCL-1
Fri 19:45 Rising Ballers Kensington v Windsor @ Uxbridge
British Airways v Yateley United
Eversley & California
v Oxhey Jets
FC Deportivo Galicia v Holmer Green
Hillingdon Borough v Brook House
London Colney v Berks County
Molesey v Amersham Town
Penn & Tylers Green
v Spartans Youth
Westside v Woodley United
- Amersham Town Champions: with 2 to play 105 pts and 148 goals - Jake Tabor showing as scoring 74 of them!
- Home advantage in the POs here with British Airways and Berks Co
- 4th and 5th currently Molesey and Eversley & Cal.. Yateley in their first season at this level, sit 6th, a point behind but only 2 games remaining.
A more serious threat could be RB Kensington, who have 6 games left (groundsharers @ North Greenford) and are 5 points back in 8th. Sadly Langley in 7th appear to have run out of games.
- bottom three are 'provisional' relegation positions: Bagshot are down - Holmer G. & London Colney both have half a doz. games left but are 8 pts adrift of Hillingdon Borough and nothing about their recent form would suggest a miracle is at all likely.

WESS-P
Petersfield Town v Cowes Sports
Shaftesbury v Andover New Street
Moneyfields Champions - POs will be AFC Stoneham (nr Eastleigh), Shaftesbury, AFC Portchester and Portland:
- the last of these could be dislodged by Brockenhurst in 6th, who have played a game more but are only a point behind.
Portland host Shaftesbury tonight (Thu) then host 'The Badgers; on Saturday.
Baffins who have an additional fixture to make up, could conceivably barge past both of them into 5th.

WESS-1
AFC Aldermaston v Totton & Eling
Alresford Town v Frimley Green
Ash United
v Ringwood Town
Folland Sports v Andover Town
Millbrook v Cove
Verwood Town v Whitchurch United
- Hamworthy Rec's unbeaten record went midweek with a 0-1 reverse at home to Fleetlands. They are Champions however
- PO spots currently: Millbrook (Southampton), Downton, Alresford and E.Cowes - with Cove still in sniffing distance.
At the bottom Aldermastons' heavy defeat last night H v Verwood (L0-5) ensures they will finish bottom three with Andover Town.
- New Milton 3rd bottom & so long pointless this season, may yet escape - particularly given their recent astonishing turnaround in form.
Their FIRST win of the season came in the 3rd week in Feb, when they had only 2 pts - they have now racked up 7 wins and 4 draws since then. With four fixtures left they host Ash Utd tonight (Thu) who are currently 2 places and 7 pts ahead. Frimley Gn are a point nearer and have only 2 matches to play, both away against PO contenders.

cba to check and unsure what league they are in but im sure somebody can say but in september Market Drayton Town had earned 24 points in just 14 games and were 3rd in the table

Fast forward a further 20 league games & they've only achieved a further 3 points and finished bottom

no idea what happened there but they must have lost basically all their players

About 11 players left, those who stayed fell out with the coaching staff. They were asked to leave, mid-season trials essentially took place to find a new team. Pretty much explains it all.

....something's gotta give ... as they say -
Woodley were also scheduled to be at home on Thu next week (25th CCL-1 H v Holmer Green)
- AND there's an apparent 'double-booking' the following Sat (27th) too with both clubs currently listed as being at Rivermoor. :? City v Edgware & Kingsbury/Woodley v Oxhey

May just be that the FullTime site hasn't caught up with the latest re-arrangements.

The clubs could schedule a double-header if the visiting sides agree - providing the surface can take it?
Or Woodley may have to switch or find another available venue? They've used Henley this season or Burnham is probably a safe bet if not already booked?

Woodley also have to fit in a (p'poned from the 4th Apr) home fixture vs Molesey too ... and that fixture could have PO implications.

I'll have a 'delve'...... 8)

And so welcome to the weird world of non league football, thank god Reading seem to have missed that boat.

BTW I don't think 24 points from 14 games is particularly outstanding, so can't have been all that with their original squad.
