How are Barca not being done for tapping up?

by TBM » 19 Jul 2010 17:27

Seriously, some of the shit they've come out with (regarding Fabregas) over the past month or so is bordering "tapping up"

The arrogance of them isn't going to do themselves any favours if they want to make Arsenal sell him. The fact is Arsene doesn't have to sell up, he has plenty of years left on his contract and if he sulks to demand a move then he may have a LONG wait if Arsenal decide to be pcunts and tell him to see out his contract.

Isn't tapping up just ringing the bloke, offering him loadsa money and getting him to hand in a transfer request?

All Barca have done is state their public desire to sign Fabregas which, last time I checked, wasn't illegal - just disrespectful.

Anyway, Hobnob training's this Thursday m8.

Check out some of the things they've been saying though.........."Fabregas has told us he wants to sign for us" - "he doesn't want to be at Arsenal anymore" etc etc. I reckon they have offered him a deal to join them and are now trying to force Arsenal into selling

Apparently players contracted at a club can't tap someone up for the club, somehow

Substitute Fabregas for the name Tommy Smith and that's very similar to what Rodgers said about him wanting to come here and play under him!

Unless Arsenal complain there hasn't been any offence committed has there ?

And if Fabregas HAS told them he wants to join them then again, there has been no offence, expect perhaps by Fabregas.

Barca probably think they are doing whatever it takes just like Arsenal did when they signed him as a 15yr old.

No, they could get him because they could offer him a professional contract at a younger age than they could in Spain. Same reason Pique went to Man United. Have the Spanish FA closed that loophole now?

Fàbregas started his career as a trainee with Barcelona but was signed by Arsenal in September 2003 at the age of 16. he did not manage to play a first team game at the Camp Nou. Sensing that he would have limited opportunities at Barcelona, he joined Arsenal

That to me says he opted to join Arsenal and could well have stayed with Barca

I remember watching a documentary bout him and that's were I heard Barca thought he wad too small to be a player for them

Wrong forum for the discussion, but how the hell is an unreported crime not a crime?

It's not in a bunch of statistics but it's still a crime if you do something that's against the law.

To take a cricket example (OK, slightly at a tangent !). Ball hits batsman plumb in front . No one appeals. Umpire knows he's lbw but no one has 'reported' the crime so it's not lbw, and he's not out.

In the case of Fabregas if Arsenal don't raise an objection then there's no crime committed. No one is going to investigate / punish Barca if Arsenal aren;t bothered by what is being said. It happens all the time at a low level that stuff happens which might be technically illegal but no one bothers with it. You taking a pen home from work is technically a 'crime' but you are never going to get into trouble over it...

So an unreported crime is still a crime then?

I know that in footballs eyes the tapping up has to be reported in order to be investigated and punished (and sonit hardly ever is because they're all at it and the tapping club can always seem to buy the offended clubs silence) but that wasn't what was being got at.

A crime is a crime and if football wants to rid itself of tappin up (which it probably doesn't to be fair) then they need to move away from the cricket scenario and into the real world of the act being the crime regardless of a complaint.

This is (probably) not tapping up though, it's more like unsettling a player under contract.

They appear to have spoken to the player, which without his clubs consent is tapping up.

One of the sadder bits of news relating to this was the revelation thart he "may be forced" to hand in a transfer request to get a move.

Players often get a bonus if they are sold without handing in a request, so hardly ever submit one any more because they want to be rewarded for their "loyalty".

Fair play to Arsenal for holding out on this and not giving in to Barcas bullying.....

They did the exact same with Henry but Arsene held out a season or two and then sold him for £16m knowing Henry had already given his best to the club....look at where Henry is now!
