Isaac Hunt Sonko recently revealed that he is currently earning "just under £14,000 a week" (whilst talking about his frustration of not playing enough at Stoke or Pompey).

There's no way on earth that he'd have been on £18k pre-premier league with us.

Was that the figure Pompey were paying him, he would have been on a wage from Hull too.

Not that it really matters.

He was talking about what he was earning...so I'd guess it would be the combined total. It was in the context that he was unhappy with the loanee rules because he had to sit in the stands despite Pompey not being able to field a full subs bench, because of the limit of 5 in a match day squad.

So essentially he earnt £14k a week to sit with the fans and watch when he just wanted to be playing.

TBH I'm not sure I'd sit and watch Pompey everyweek for £700k a year.

Hmm, dunno, not having to pay to get in could be the clincher...

Not really. Suffice to say one of our probable top earners is signifcantly less than £10k a week (basic that is).

I'd have thought that they were on more than that....goes to show what I know!

If you do fancy imparting some of your knowledge, however speculative it would be well received

For context Semtex, the average Chump wage in 2006 was around £3750 a week, compared to £13000 a week in the Premier League.

Which, by the way, would put Sonko £5k above the average Prem wage in the Championship before we got promoted, according to RL's player source.

EDIT: Article in the Guardian in 2009 suggests Prem average up to £21k a week.

EDIT: just found a site with a figure allegedly based on the recent Deloitte report which suggests the Champ average wage now is a smidge higher than in 2006 at £3850 a week.

Shane Long's girlfriend's dad (slightly tenuous) told me prior to Long signing a new contract before Christmas last year that he was on £10k per week plus £1k per goal. I don’t know how much that changed with the new contract.

That would surpise me, because individual goal bonusses are meant to be a really poor way of doing things and are rare - because you get the situation where a player will take a shot himself when it's not on, rather than pass to an unmarked colleague, because he makes more money by scoring himself.

Maybe it was a team bonus?

Would explain his tantrums over penalties though, and the frequency of his diving!

....and the delayed ecstasy on his face when he scored the penalty 2nd goal against Cardiff in the play -offs...it suddenly dawned on him "F**k thats another £1k in the bank account" :)

Doncaster have a 20% sell on clause, which would mean they will get around £800k of any deal should Mills move on.

Sell-ons are done on profit, not on total sale price, so probably closer to half of that.

When Sidwll first signed for us he wanted 1k a goal. I know we didn't give it to him, but shows back then in 2002 what players wanted for goals

I hope you're right but they seem to think they will get £760,000.
