Hi gazza

Have you got anything on this? Now Gylfi is over we will have to turn our attentions elsewhere.

Hopefully the kiddies aren't going to turn on you now as well. It doesn't appear to take much.

I'd imagine that with Cardiff having refinanced via throwing away their traditions, they can now afford to ignore offers for Whittingham

True. But could they ignore an unhappy Whittingham if he feels he wants to test himself at a higher level?

But at the end of the day it will be down to weather or not Whittingham will want to stay with Cardiff with the possibility of going up or Prem League with Reading,

cardiff don't need to sell though, and they can ask for a lot more than we're prepared to pay. hameed is no mug. he wont pay a penny more than he feels a player is worth. i don't think this one will happen.

But if he dont want to stay at Cardiff, do they really want to keep a player who doesnt want to be there, :?:

Wasn't 4 years at Villa enough of a test?

There's a couple of whispers that West Brom are interested, but not as much as you would think for a player of his quality. Everything points to him not being unsettled, and staying put at Cardiff. No insider knowledge or anything, but IMO this one's dead in the water.

I guess, but you can't deny Whittingham has been one of the stand out players in the Championship in recent years. Thats enough for me at least to think he might make a better go at it if he were given another chance.

Keeps being linked to a return to Villa too now.

That's four years as a very young player.

He's since played the best part of 250 games and developed a lot with that experience.

Sometimes it just doesn't work for a player at a certain club or under a certain manager. Perhaps Reading and McDermott could get more out of the more mature Whittingham this time around.

if we could convince him to want to come here then cardiff may be more inclined to sell him to us. imo that would be a fantastic signing and the 2nd best option to gylfi. he is a fantastic, creative midfielder who can score goals and he would fit well to the reading way. now that we have our russian money we could afford him as well.

That's a fair enough point. Not sure that he will rip up any trees, but he's probably better than who we currently have to fill that role.

Didn't Cardiff just sign Mutch from Birmingham?

Could be a sign they're preparing to lose him.

Indeed - the only successful pass he's made recently was the promotion party.

Currently we have no one to fill that role don't we?
