Personally I think we need to get around to spending decent money on replacing Sig. Our central midfield has been devoid of creativity for an eternity. Perhaps not much of an issue in the Championship, but think we need to upgrade from 'workhorse' to 'footballer' now we are fighting teams who, by last years standard, are all much better.

It's uncomfortable thinking that games like Southampton are 'must/expected wins' when last year, with the same team we did sex wee if we he got a draw against these bastards.

Just read an interesting article about Spanish players of a similar stature to Michu in terms of where he came from and his price.

Seem to be quite a few promising players at good prices potentially. Maybe we should be looking at a couple of these?

GSY-Royal Judge is the sort of attacking midfielder people on here have been screaming out for. Exactly the type of player we'll go in for, the bigger names cost far too much, especially in January when prices are always inflated.

would have been a good signing if we were still in the championship, but asking him to make the step up to the premier league from league one is a lot to ask. same situation with rhodes basically.

Pilkington has done OK

Would rather a quality league one midfielder than one from the dutch league (with the exception of Christian Eriksen and Luciano Narsingh).

Talk of Paul Robinson leaving Blackburn - think he would be a good signing. Feds has not convinced since his return.

Apparently we have a chance of getting Lee Camp from N Forest

Don't we have enough ex-Forest players who can't get in the team already?

Would rather Robinson than Feders tbh would provide some leadership at the back for a good price. Still has a few good years ahead of him.

Can't see who will want to join us though Blackburn at the moment do not look like they are going to return as a PL club next year. Maybe we should be looking at the likes of:

Pedersen - Set pieces awesome crosser with a rocket of a shot could operate from the centre too if needed.

Formica - Seemed to chip in with his fair share of goals last season in a struggling side certainly seems useful going forward.

If the likelihood of Blackburn staying the NPC is high in january maybe we should be looking at these players.

Top of my list (if we could get them, either buy or to the end of season loan) would be

In:
another keeper...i'd be happy with someone like Kasper Schmeichel, always been excellent against us
Dawson
Sidwell (prob loan as may not want to sell?) and/or
Gylfi (loan obviously, Spurs wont sell)
Another forward (Long? Don't think WBA would sell/loan) shame we missed the boat with Rhodes.

Out:
Church
Pog (I don't care that we only got him this season, he's not good enough in any way/shape/form)
Gunnarsson
anyone else?

Prem experienced players out of favour?

by West_Reading » 09 Dec 2012 15:27

If we're to make any moves in January, it has to be players who are proven at this level but are out of favour for whatever reason at the moment. A few names that catch my eye are Wilson Palacios and Jermaine Jenas. Both would give much needed athleticism and drive in the middle of the park. Martin Olsson (Blackburn) is another who I think we should have tried to sign in the summer.

Loan signings wise, would have to be unproven youngsters, but I liked the look of Eisfeld from Arsenal when he came on against us in the Capital One Cup.

Why not loan the more experienced players? The problem we're going to face with signing the kind of players we need permanently is they may well be signing on to a doomed team and thus committing themselves to a future in the Championship.

What you find that the players that are available to loan are young players looking for more experience not experienced players

Palacios is an interesting suggestion, although he seems to have gone right off the boil since first going to Spurs.

Jenas is an early retirement waiting to happen though.
