Barry the bird boggler Smith to Reading, what a surprise, didn't see that coming!

The Ross Jenkins suggestion is interesting, didn't the other Ross Jenkins play for us in the early 80s ? Presumably they're not related.

Ross Jenkins didn't play for us but I'm pretty sure another of the Graham Taylor team that went from 4th Div to 1st Div did end up with us for a short while.

Any chance of the confusion being caused by Tommy Jenkins?

The Watford player from the Graham Taylor era? Well, we had Brian Infoot as manager for starters. The player who played for us? I propose Roger Joslyn and Les Taylor. Luther Blissett was looked at but we chose Colin Gordon instead! Neil Smillie missed out on the multiple promotions having played for the world's biggest club in the Cup Final against man ure

Its Roger Joslyn that confused me, I knew there was an R and and "Oss" sound in the name!

2 Ross Jenkins are not related at all...

Wish you'd guys or (anyone) would hurry up and get this Smith saga over and done with because we need to get some replacements in.

I must say you are good humoured super horns about your footballing club slowly being dismantled. If Smith goes I fear it will be bottom 5 and a 60% chance of bottom 3 for the hornets....

There would be some on here cuttting their wrists if we were in the same situation.

Well its what happens if you waste 50-70 odd million in 3 years and most of us know we'll probably be in a relegation fight even if Smithy stays....he's out of contract next summer and unlikely to sign a new one so rather get a fee which could be spent elsewhere potentially (or as somebody said to the bank to avoid administration)

We aren't the first to suffer this situation ofcourse and won't be the last unless clubs sort themselves out instead of chasing the dream without success.

Anyway unlike some of the clubs that go down we aren't big and have bounced back before.

Give some of our decent youngsters a go too.

Be difference with you guys because you haven't wasted that much money and have a rich chairman backing you if not quite getting his cheque book out plus 4 sided ground to fill etc.

Good luck for the season. I wouldn't even begrudge you some points against us as long as they don't come from unbelievably tedious games for a change.

Well, they imply that BR thinks something might happen before Saturday. As usual, he's probably being a tad over-zealous about timescales.

Smith looked a cut above the rest of the Watford players yesterday.

They seemed to have some decent players but as soon as they went behind the heads went down and they never looked like recovering. Thats a worring trait and one i can remember seeing from Charlton last season
