Focher i cant help but think Curbishley would want to get the Charlton days back and to be honest he couldnt get closer than us at the moment. Had his fingers burnt at West Ham with stacks of cash and wants to go back to what he knows best.

Out of any candidates he has surely got to be far and away the best bet, subject to him wanting it that is.

Failing that i can hear the press conference now:

"Ladies and gentleman we have searched long and hard for the right man for RFC, and i take great pleasure in introducing our new manager Mr Glenn Roeder"

Ha, I was round his house last week!

Nice guy, but look at the side he relegated West Ham with...
NO thanks!

Sun Tzu By the time he joined Reading he wouldn't be the Watford manager....

Anyone being surprised at Rodgers getting the job would be a bit foolish. I can see reasons why he might not be the next manager but to be surprised by the red hot favourite is bizarre, especially when his credentials are spot on for the role !

Do you get a shock every December 25th ?

I would be surprised if he accepted.
That's all you need to know.

Some fans whine, bitch, moan and complain with whatever is on show.
It's their lifestyle, it's universal.

I want Curbishley, but with some other jobs coming up there's no certainty he'd want us. Sunderland and Celtic are much more attractive options.

Are you suggesting that this has happened in the past or that Madejski and Hammond have decided to introduce it now because I personally see little evidence that this ever happened under Coppell.

I am not suggesting anything. Merely speculating on likely impact on contenders of comments made by Hammond & Sir John since SC stepped down as reported by Her Majestys Gutter Press. However now you mention it do you really believe that Steve, an England International & Man U winger would seriously have signed a no hoper like Kebe given a free hand?

Yes, he's got excellent talent but is a bit rough and ready. Exactly the sort of player Coppell liked to pick up and mold. Didn't always work though. Certainly not for Long. (pun intended)

Coppell didn't find Kebe. We have a scouting network that suggests players and they tend to come over and have a trial, or the management team go and watch them. Coppell did turn enough similar players down to suggest Hammond isn't buying players over Coppell's head.

Hammond's not some egocentric overlord pushing his weight around, playing power games. He's doing the job that a director of football ought to do (how well is a different matter).

People just hear about other directors of football, normally appointed against the wishes of the manager, and the power struggles that go on, and jump to conclusions.

If I were betting on this I'd be slowly and surreptitiously moving my stake away from Rodgers and in the direction of Exeter.....

In this case, no .... and the initial few wisps are starting to get a bit more numerous....
