Davies is not up to it and we don't spend money anymore, so i'd say that scenario is pretty unlikely.

£4mill with 40% sell on clause will do but i don't think he should go to Wolves a team who will be fighting the drop!

I do think selling our best player, after one season, sets a nasty precedent.

We made the choices we did last summer, on the understanding that we wouldn't have to sell our best young players this summer.

I do think we'll see a few of the fringe move on, Davies, Kelly, Bozanic, maybe even Henry. Just can't see us selling Sig/Jem/Church. Hope I am right....

How much of those sales were so we wouldn't have to make cuts now so weren't able to put them towards our budget for buying?

I would be very disappointed if we let Sig go and also think it would be a mistake for the player as well.

Look at Moses - electric at Palace but only one start and some sub appearances at Wigan. Much better for Sig to get at least one more season behind him at Reading. If we go up he will be in the PL in any case and if we don't - then he could look for a bigger club with two full years experience at this level.

Wolves are showing the ambition with signings in the prem we should have done. Ambition pays off. Wouldn't be shocked to see him go there at all. Few years ago it would have been unheard of.

I heard a rumour from a friend tonight who is friendly with a senior member of RFC and he has been told that there is next to no money available this summer and the wage bill still isn't where the club want it to be. Gylfi and Shane Long are going to be the most likely to leave.

I can see why people would want Gylfi but has Long really turned any heads this year? He's scored some important goals for us but can't think who would want him.

Anyway, peeps, I think we should all get used to the idea that Gylfi certainly won't be with us next year.

That is PRECISELY what people on here said when Hull started strengthening their squad with (relatively) big money signings.

We have 39 squad players at the moment so I would not be surprised if the wage bill is too high but 12 are out of contract at the end of the season. Several others like Mooney are likely to be offloaded if we can arrange for someone else to take them on - even if we release on free transfers. But for us to let our star player go would be very foolish in the long run and make a PL return even harder to achieve. I don't expect us to buy anyone of note and we may well rely on loans again to fill the gaps in defence. I expect a smaller squad size next season and we will probably see Cummings or Kelly as first choice right back. It was interesting to see the club praising Cummings performances in the ressies recently and saying what a great professional he was - could not help thinking at the time that the ground was being laid for him returning as first choice next season. Perhaps Kelly will be left back as well as he has played there a lot in the past. If they don't cut it I expect more experienced loan signings to added.

Time will tell but we have never cashed in too early before apart from possibly Simon Cox - but in that case the player was desperate to go and deemed surplus to requirements at that time.

Absolutely pure fantasy on my part but one possible deal I could have seen until Simon Cox recently started becoming a first choice striker for WBA, would have been Sig to WBA with £3m and Simon Cox coming back our way.

My mind changes daily but something like that would be pretty good if it became reality. IMHO that is.

Well, there's now a thread on the Team Board that confirms that further cuts must be made. IMO that means the likes of Cisse and Marek being shown the door but I do hope it doesn't mean that Gylfi's off.

^^ this

The only plausible reasons for us accepting a bid for him would be a) too good to turn down and/or b) the wage bill requires more cuts and a substantial fee would assist in replacing other, higher earning players, that could well leave in the summer.

The EP valuing Gylfi in the region of £2m. If he goes for that they'll be a lot of pissed of supporters that's for sure!
