Nice clips, but you really can't judge any player from a few minutes on You Tube, let alone a defender who's main job is to be consistent and do a job over 90 minutes.

He certainly looks to be the kind of agressive centre half we need to replace the likes of Duberry and Sonko though, and that he seems to have a bit of pace about him would match him up well for playing alongside Pearce.

As for having Veiri on trial, an injury prone 35 (??) year old who's been without a club for a few months (I think) is slightly different to a in demand 25 year old coming into the peak of his career!

better to make judgements on youtube clips than newspaper articles and rumours. Although you still can make judgements on those.

The key thing is to realise the judgements you are making are based on flimsy evidence and allow for that. So they are tentative and changeable depending on new evidence.

I like the clips, and "just" from the clips i feel justified in saying, "He looks good,"
(especially when the player is officially rated the best defender in Sweden/Scandinavia.


When Arsenal were signing Eduardo and we thought, "Who?" the "clips" of him showed every single goal
he'd scored, so there was a lot of "information".

All that gets me is when we see "debate" on here about the man being a liability, gonna get loads of cards etc etc
when the You Tube video was clearly a selectively presented view of the player and about one minute long

Dear Brendan,

As Chief You-Tube Scout for Reading FC I would like to recommend Solvi Ottensen.

I have rigorously studied 2 minutes and 44 seconds of his play, AND another 14 seconds of action.

Consider the work I put in on this, Brendan, how I absolutely PORED over this long, detailed, analysis
which, had there been another 2 seconds would have totaled three whole minutes.

In detail I would say, Christ he looks even more psychotic than Bikey at his worst. Gotta be a minimum of two reds a season over the way he plays.
He certainly looks good, but I'm still worried by the lunging tackles and little kicks.

As you well know, Brendan, having played and coached for a few decades, and sometimes actually attended live games,
