As Harps automatically went up for sale with relegation (as part of his contract) - I wonder when (or if) he'll ask to be taken off the transfer list?

FiNeRaIn Once again, great ambition from wigan. Something we never showed which is why we are championship fodder. Be a great signing for wigan and dave whelan if they pull it off. I am jealous.

LOL

Try reading some of the 'Boro fans' opinion of Cattermole before spouting dribble like that.

Sothgate isnt interested anymore - he's chasing David Dunn and Bolton will not pay £5m so Harper is staying - unfortunately, him in midfield has lend us back and more of an enforcer like Watson would have given us far more balance - ah well lets see how it pans out in the season but I expect Harper to be under the cosh after a few games

I rather think Harper may be extremely impressive this season. He was good last time he was in th echump. And he has two seasons of regular prem experience to have made him better now.

Watson is not an enforcer.

And you are basing that on a report in the Daily Star

What Harper lacks on the tackling front is more than made up for by his passing and finishing and the energy that he brings to the squad as well as being a terrific club man and enthusiast off the pitch.
Tell me who is the mystery midfielder that we already have that brings more than that to the party?

got to love your faith in your own opinion
so much so that it has trancended opinion , and turned into fact, simply by virtue of coming from your head.

Matejovsky and Convey are both far superior to Harper. I'd even stick Cisse's name into the hat as being more effective.

IMO opinion matejovski needs to explode onto the championship this year, pull strings, set up goals,& score goals in order for him to even be considered as established, let alone better than anyone

IMO he has the potential and the talent to do so, but he has yet to have done it for us, consistently or otherwise

just flashes here and there that get people raving about him
me included

The difference between the two is that Matejovsky can pick out a defence-splitting pass whereas Harper passes the ball sideways when he 'creates' things. Matejovsky has far superior positional strength, he uses the ball far better, puts better pressure on players when we are defending and strikes the ball better than Harper both when passing and shooting - his technique is superior.

matejovski is a good player, he will become better than harper ever was for us,im just saying he never really set us on fire last time out,1 goal, any assists?he just showed glimpses-he now needs to grab games by the scruff of the neck, and consistently.agreed his technique is superior-but he does lose the ball more than harps-though mainly due to his more adventurous and expansive passes.whilst he cant tackle that well he is still measurably better than harps whose tackles i can count on fingers for the whole of last season.
but harper is a great passer of the ball in any direction too, and keeps it better than anyone in the squad
he has played defence splitting passes( layed on for lita vs man city)despite you saying he does not offer this.
and makes great late runs into the box-which he follows usually with an accurate, hard, well placed shot.
on top of all that add his attitude and infectious enthusiasm and its no wonder some mid/lower prem table teams are considering paying 3+ million for him
