Alan Partridge £4million + for Harper would be FANKS

Having said that if we aren't going to spend ANY of this transfer money then they may as well turn it down.

To be honest, we may as well accept any offer for Harper because Coppell won't bring anyone in. At least if Harper goes then Coppell will be forced not to play him just like he was when Hughes left and we all know the benefits which sprung from that.

I think other areas need strenthening but not so sure about central midefield Marek and Karacan could be an excellent combination with gunnarson and cisse as championship level cover.....

I wouldn't say no to watson however!

ffs we have seen one glimpse of karacan, can everyone stop saying flog harper we will be fine, yes Jem looks a good prospect but that is all he is right now and asking him to play a major role this year could ruin him.lets let him develop by playing a back up role to start with.

Karacan has out-played Harper in every pre-season game so far.

£5.5m for Kitson, £3.5m (guestimate) for Shorey = £9m

If we do sell Harper for £4.5m then we'll have £13,5m, spend £5m on a decent central midfield and i'll be happy - if we only spend £500k on one then i give up and question where Coppell/Madejski actually wants to take this club.

IF we just spent £3 on a midfield I'd be happy.

I just don't undestand what the board are playing at with all the money we've had come through the door in the last 2+ seasons.

I see where you're coming from here - Arsenal ruined Fabregas by playing him at an early age.

Surely he could wait until he sells the club?

Instead he has and seems to be taking us backwards now.

we pinched karacan from wimbledon, they pinched fabregas from barcelona. Fabregas had to earn his place with cameo appearances HTH

Are you suggesting Swansea, Forest and Doncaster bench their entire teams then seeing as they also haven't played at Championship level but were League 1 regulars last season?

you have got to be the most negative argumentative person on here!

Normally I am completely against Royalee, but I agree with him here.

The main problem with having Harper here is that he is guranteed a place in the first team, even if he isn't playing well.

Thing is i agree with both of you!

Swansea, Forest, Dancaster players have all been playing together as a team so doesn't matter too much on what league they're in as long as they're ALL good enough.

The argument about Fabragas having to earn his place is true - Karacan wont be able to walk straight into the team due to the fact he is not yet in the "Reading style of play"

However i do feel he should play a big part and by mid-season i expect to see him playing regularly

this is the point i was making. if he plays well in the time he is given early in the season then great give him his chance and let him take it with both hands.this is something i would dearly love to see, a product of our youth system coming through and being a major part of the team.

also with regards to the teams coming up, when teams like this do well it is usually because all the players are steping up a level together, its much harder for one player to step up on his own. Not impossible to do just harder.

If Harper goes we`ve got his replacement already at the club. Step up Mr Cisse!!!!!!!! Job done and not a penny spent, just the way the club likes it.
