Svlad Cjelli We're looking at Paddy O'Doors.

Don't bother. He's already on the slide.

Open and shut case.

I've never known anyone with a knocker on their patio doors. Otherwise, your pun works great.

Sarcastic bastard mode off.

Just past the half-hour mark, Byrne was forced to limp from the pitch with a calf injury, his replacement the sorcerer’s apprentice Paddy Madden, who was being watched last night by Reading manager Brian McDermott

What league was Doyle scoring in before he came to Reading, en route to the premiership?

Madden is interesting Celtic and Derby at around 100K

I like this on the Derby chat board

Afraid I can't shed any light - League of Ireland is outside of my scouting boundaries lol!

If he's half as good as Doyle or Long we could be laughing.

And Doyle carried on scoring (in the Championship) because he had the potential - how long has Mooney been over here and how many goals has he scored in the Championship?

I know you will go on about how he hasn't been given the opportunity... but you have to earn the opportunity (through training, reserves, loan spells, etc) and he just hasn't done that.

So please change the record.

Doyle played 43 + 8 in a fantastic first Chamionship season and got 19 goals
Mooney has played 45 (12) for 16 goals. That's hardly cr@p

He got 3 goals in 8+1 at Norwich (Championship) and 2 goals in 2+2 for Reading

And should we be comparing Mooney to £6.5 Million-man DOYLE, or more to Long, Church, Hunt, Bignall. Doyle only averaged 1 in 3 for us.

Well whatever the stats say, those who have the choices to make at the club don't choose to play him.

Jeeezzzz. Doyle scored nearly all his goals in the Championship and Premiership for us. Mooneys' goals for us have come against minor opposition in the League Cup. His only Championship goals came for Norwich. If he is so good why can't he:

a) Get in to our first team (three different managers have failed to select him) and remember he also couldn't even get on a SEVEN man bench

b) secure a loan to a Championship club

You can quote stats all you like but those facts mask the TRUE picture.

I have it on very good authority from someone at the club that they are actually looking at the very talented midfield pairing of Patrick Fitzmichael and Michael Fitzpatrick.

With the imminent return of Simon Cox we will also have Long Cox up front and all these signings should improve the team.

Don't dispute that. There was a rumour he was on silly wages. and,
if that IS the case and we need to off-load one striker, then he'd
be that man... get some loan-club to stump up (say) half is a good start.

Bignall and Church would be on not-too-much I'd've thought, and we appear
to be still playing mostly 4-5-1 and we have, with Bignall gone, the relatively
expensive Long and Hunt, and the cheaper Church vying for the one slot
with Taylor as fourth choice.

We knew Rasiak was a good bet for goals. His goals to games ratio was excellent,
but we let him go. Guess why.

Simple question.

If we played Mooney in a 4-5-1, for 20-25 games, how many goals would he get?

I'd say 6-7-8

If we played Mooney in a 4-4-2, for 20-25 games, how many goals would he get?

I'd say 8-11

that doesn't mean, Long or Hunt or Church, or combinations thereof wouldn't match him
but having seen him, he looks like a player who can get 1 in 3 or better, at our level.

He did for Norwich in the Championship.

But then Raiak was good for at least 1 in 3. He was let go because it suited the club.

A simple question? I wouldn't even class that as a question, more like provide a number that backs up your point of view.

I'll say 1 for each "question".

You clearly know something the current manager, previous manager and the best manager in our history didn't.
