Remember watching him playing for Engalnd under 21's in 2001 and was best player on the pitch and thought he was going to be amazing. Highlight at liverpool but plenty of baggage so I don't think this will ever happen.

To be fair, £2m for someone just turning 16 that month was big money in 1999. That was a big deal at the time and it's a real shame, though perhaps not a total surprise, that he failed to fulfill his potential. He could barely even read and write supposedly when he joined Arsenal so to expect a kid with that much pressure piled on him at that age without much of a previous education and having had a rough childhood all round to keep a level head was asking a lot. Not particularly keen to have him join us at this time, though, but purely for footballing reasons.
