Cracking signing for £1m, think we could be a little light at CM if Guthrie/Karacan gets injured.

Wonder what this would mean for Akpan though...

Williams and Akpan are sufficient cover for Guthrie and Karacan

You need at least 2 players for every position - so 6 CMs in the squad

Doesn't it depend on the type of midfielder though? I thought Vaughn was more of a passer.

Doubt Ledge will be doing much this season.. maybe bench warming!

I don't know if this signing would be worthwhile.. Depends on wages.
Jem and the Danny's will be our first 3 with Akpan as back up and Ledge as back up back up. Even if there's an injury D'Ath isn't that bad a shout to sit on the bench and maybe play a few minutes.

I seem to remember Adkins saying that squad rotation would be vital to our season this year. This would make sense then. I think regardless of injuries we'll be seeing Guthrie/Karajan dropping out shortly anyway and maybe Vaughan is the technically adept player to step up and allow Guthrie to rest.

Doubt there's much truth in it, but a super little player who would fit nicely into our current system.

I'd also say to those who say we have too many midfielders already... If Guthrie gets injured we're buggered, because while we have plenty of depth we don't have another player who can sit deep, dictate play, and look to play the ball forward at the right time, which is a very important role when you're trying to play like we are.

But Vaughan wouldn't come here to be Guthrie's understudy, surely. And would we really want two of that type of player in the starting XI?

I thought he was on his way to Palace, particularly with the Holloway connection.
I hope you get him. He's a good player and scored a couple of absolute crackers for us, particularly the third goal at Newcastle late last season. Unfortunately, he's also dropped a couple of clangers, passing back to goal from well out allowing an opposition player to nip in and score.
Overall I like him and think he'd add to your squad.

46 game season, not including cup games, injuries happen, form dips, rotation is required.

In this league you need 2 players for each position and (IMO) we don't have another player who can play in Guthrie's position/role. If we can have players like Vaughan and Guthrie competing for one position then fantastic.

Tbf to Vaughan though, from what I've seen he can be combative, so no particular reason why he couldn't work well with Guthrie, and there may well be games where the opposition is setting deep where we could use two creative forces in midfield.

We ought to be signing a £1million + striker imo - wayyyy before getting in more midfielders - unless they're really good attacking midfielders who will get a bagful of goals and Adkins thinks another striker isn't a necessity....

Jeezy whatsit!! He's one ugly munter isn't he. I demand that us women have some nice eye candy to look at this season - the manager looks like Curly Watts, Gunter is ok (but, you know....), Kebe is lovely looking - but since Matt Mills, I've had no-one I'm really keen on - except maybe Stephen Kelly and he's not playing

I guess you still reminisce fondly on the days of Luke Chadwick? Hunktastic. He was enough to almost turn me.
