Just heard a cheeky rumour that this current season will be our last in hoops for quite some time. Apparently going for an all blue snazzy number.

Would not be surprised.

You'd also be wrong, believe it or not the club like to sell shirts, removing the hoops would be massively detrimental to shirt sales, of course they could just do their own thing like Vincent Tan but I can't see it happening.

I'd probably cancel my ST if we did that, let alone just not buy it.

I may be wrong, but I don't think replica kit merchandising was as big a deal in the 80s. The club's got enough problems without turning off more loyal customers. But it wouldn't be out of character for foreign owners.

Never happen. It's bad enough the club chop and change from blue shorts/socks and white shorts/socks, but they'll never bin the hoops now. If we want snazzy kits then that's what the away kit or third choice is for. Messing with the traditional home strip never ends well, and will only alianate the supporters even further.

We'll probably play in Red and have a dragon as our crest.

Our jester-hatted spaz-clapping middle-class supporters will lap it up.

Meh, it's a one off charidee shirt, I hold it to slightly different standards than our normal home kit, so agree with Zac.

When was the last time we had actual hoops rather than horizontal strips?

The one-off kit would look quite nice without the stupid Monster logo on it

Changing kits alone wouldn't bother me if done for the right reasons, but given what the club have been doing with the 'match day experience' in recent months it'll probably be a branding exercise, which will be the final straw for me

About a year or two ago, but there were only two of them. Pre that, I think about 2009.

It's only the wilfully pedantic who think our kit is not blue and white hoops.
But agree any change from the traditional would not go down well and if it has been considered I would expect it to be shot down instantly. I don't think it is the sort of thing the Thai's would do, they are a very different bunch to Tan.

Wasn't it that one with the awful drawn on low collar job? I truly truly hated that one. Worst we've had in my memory.

Mess with the away kit by all means, but the home kit has to remain a variation of the hoops - the foreign owners only have to look at the kerfuffle down the M4 in Cardiff when they changed to a red home kit.

If it was a one-off kit like Ryan's Royals then I could live with that, But they could make/sell replica shirts that don't actually get work. IIRC Bristol City or Rovers did a pink kit for breast cancer with some profits going there. It was very popular. In pre-season friendlies, from a marketing point of view it probably makes good sense to wear our away kit at a home friendly to publicise it/try to generate sales.
