royalp-we Probs Coker. If it was anything exciting, you would think he'd announce it as quick as he could; before others.

I stand corrected - this one is exciting.

Didn't see that coming. Reach would be an excellent signing. Crap news for Fosu.

So if Reach can play left back, is that left back cover sorted or is he seen as first choice left winger?

In a 4-3-3 does it appear Stam likes inverted wingers/inside forwards (ones who cut in) or traditional ones? Beerens appears to be the latter on the right, as McCleary is, which leaves Fosu and Reach on the left? If it's inverted ones then is Rakels likely to do a job?

And, who is the first choice right back if Gunter gets injured?

Surely Kuhl needs to be loaned out again, we have so many midfielders!

Remaining priorities for me;

Cover for LB and RB
Decent striker

Wouldn't be upset to see us try to get some money in by moving on Norwood, Williams and Cooper - if we can do that to finance a 'decent striker' I'd be happy.

When saying decent I mean someone of the standard we thought Vydra was when we bought him in last year!

Right Mids - McCleary, Beerens, Stacey, Barrett, Tanner, Mendes
Strikers - Kermorgant, Rakels, Samuel, Mendes, Tanner, Novakovich

Judging by this now we may need in my opinion:
a backup left back (essential) - just increase the bid and get Coker please Sasima & co
a backup right back - persuade Conor McLaughlin to sign if Watson, Dickie, Long and Keown are not capable of making the step up yet
another centre back - An experienced CB like Mariappa or Ekstrand could be good
a back up left midfielder (not essential but could buy one in January depending on performances and injuries)
a top quality striker (most important)

Fair few in that list that need further experience and getting physically stronger before stepping up to Championship level.

I agree but I get the feeling Jaap is going to throw a few youth players in the deep end e.g. Liam Kelly and Rob Dickie

Campi seems the obvious choice at CB seeing as he's on trial on tour, from what I've read anyway. Reach can supposedly fill in at LB if that's still possible.

Charles Watts isn't convinced by him, sounds a bit like Cooper in terms of his stature but gets caught out of position, I would personally prefer Mariappa although WCBAP

Yeah I did notice that when he played for Crystal Palace, he could be a first choice centre back and back up right back, covering two of the areas we need

The amount of players we still need to sign depends on these questions:
Is Watson a championship quality right back?
Are Keown and Dickie capable of playing in the championship as right backs?
Is Zak Jules capable back up and is he being deployed as a full back under Stam?
Is Shane Griffin good enough to be back up in the first team?
Are Stacey, Fosu and Tanner going to be used in the first team or are they going to be loaned out?

I think we need a centre back and a striker regardless of these questions. However, if Stacey, Fosu and Tanner are going to be used we probably won't need another winger. If Watson, Dickie, Keown and Long are decent we could have them as back up in case Gunter gets injured or suspended instead of buying a right back. The same applies to Griffin and Jules, if they are capable we may not have to buy a back up left back to Obita.

So Tev has told Charles Watts 3-4 more to come in!

And Kelly and Samuel have made a big impression, which is excellent to hear! Both have bags of potential and just need a chance, and patience to enhance it.

Agree with that, but then if the team Stam inherited was that bad, these changes are needed. If we see just 3-4 academy players getting in the first team this season then that's fantastic. Too many is far too risky. Got to get the balance right. It sounds like Kelly and Samuel have done very well, especially the little magican Kelly. Also Watson at right-back has made a decent impression. Whether he's ready to push the first-team we will see.

I think we need 4 more signings:
a left back
a centre back
a right back
a striker

3 or 4 more in is OK as long as its in positions where we need it, across the back 4 and up front, not the situation we had last year where we seemed to sign Piazon, John and Vydra in the space of 24 hrs because we could rather than because we needed them.
