Rumour - Gastón Campi

by royalp-we » 09 Jul 2016 16:40

Rumoured loan-to-buy deal for the Racing Club player. Being reported by various Argentinian journos.

25 yr old defender.

That's all I know :D

Racing are an absolutely huge club in South America, will be interesting to see what experience he has and if the rumour has legs.

Twitter seems to back this one up but I don't get how he'll be eligible for a work permit?

Either family connections (Campi being an Italian surname?) or hes got a shit load of family money.

Surely after the referendum we have an Australian points system so as long as he drinks Fosters and likes Kylie he's in ?

Class player, really comfortable on the ball. Left footed too which is a bonus.

Well let's hope he doesn't still get the run around like he was given by Diego Milito last year

Racing are one of the traditional big 3 in Argentina along with Boca and River Plate aren't they?

Can't find much information on him, but he doesn't appear to be a first team regular. From YouTube, he seems to sit in front of the defence, mopping up and playing the simple ball forward but able to pick a pass if needed. Solid and unspectacular. Could be exactly the sort of player we need.

Berg was doung just that v Borehamwood today so cant see much in this one, particularly with possible work permit hassles.

Mind you we'll need cover if Joey's disciplinary record keeps up.

Some reports say CB, some say CDM. If this does happen, I wonder if they are going for Campi instead of Blackett, or perhaps because the Tschibola deal is close to happening.

If it's a loan to buy deal, are the club learning from the Hurtado deal?

I'm a strong believer that if the deal is affordable, in the club's interests and he will improve the squad then it's worth going for. He's got 5 years on Berg who IIRC has only signed a 2 year contract. A loan with an option would be a sensible deal.

Well there we go; at least that's something he'd have in common with the outgoing Tschibola?

Watta seems to think it's all but a done deal. Looks a good signing, low fee at the end as well if we want him perm. Cooper's potential move now on the cards...

Definitely a worthwhile addition to the squad. Seems calm and assured and the occasional eye for a goal too. If it happens let's hope he can aclimatise to the UK and that he picks up the lingo quickly as that is what will make or break him.

Anyone able to confirm his work permit situation? I'm presuming he must have (or qualify for) an EU passport so wed need to move quick before the rules change.

Also would be the first Argentinian to turn out for Reading

Trained with QPR a couple of years back when they were in their hey day. Presume it's been looked in to previously, grand parents perhaps?!
